I'm cortaney Applebee, I'm 23 years old.
I am a confident, ambitious and dedicated individual with a very enthusiastic personality. I enjoy working as an on my own and as part of a team. In previous jobs, I have had to use skills such as active listening and building rapport with people of all ages including children and adults. I have worked alongside people with many different cultural, social and religious backgrounds, this has been a really positive opportunity for me and has taught me to treat everyone equally and with respect, it has taught me to be open minded and gain greater knowledge about different cultural celebrations. I have learnt to be honest and trustworthy inside and outside of work.
With experience I have learnt to stay calm in certain situations that may be difficult, this has also helped my problem solving skills and has taught me how to deal with scenarios efficiently. Through my experiences I have gained more confidence, professionalism and better communication skills. I have really enjoyed all of the courses and experiences I have had so far and hope to make the best of them in the near future.
My Experience
I have recently completed my Level 3 Diploma in Childcare (Early Years Educator) as an apprentice through Kids Corner Nursery. I was promoted as a room leader in April 2016, giving me more responsibilities such as planning, risk assessments and supporting children with their development using the EYFS. At work, I engage with children by encouraging them to learn though play, taking them on outings and teaching them valuable skills such as hygiene and safety. Whilst at work I interact with staff members, parents and children up to 5 years, which I thoroughly enjoy. I have a passion for working with children and want to gain more experience and knowledge in the future through courses and work placements.
Since finishing my Level 3 course, I feel that I need a new challenge in my career as I feel that I had gained much experience and knowledge from my previous employment. Whilst working at My new employment, I help to enrol children, risk assessment and planning. I encourage children to learn through play and track their development using the EYFS. In the time that I have been there I have done school drop-offs and school pick-ups. Although I have enjoyed it at Miss Honey’s Nursery, I am looking to find somewhere with more suitable hours and new opportunities.
My Qualifications
I have a work experience certificate. City and Guilds functional skills entry 3 in information and communication technology (ICT) A student leader award (FOOD AMBASSADOR 2010 PEER EDUCATION SCHEME) Level 2 key skills in working with others. Religious Studies. English- literature and language, Function skills mathematics Level 1, drama, media, salon services/hair dressing level 1, OCR Level 2 national in ICT, Science and additional science, Adult literacy test, BTEC first diploma Childcare level 2... Early Years Educator level 3, signs and symbols certificate, early years maths and first aid!
