My Experience

All providers of education and care to children from birth to the age of five must follow the standards set in the early years foundation stage (EYFS) framework.
Assessment, based on observation of children's learning and development, is an integral part of the EYFS. All early years providers must complete an EYFS profile for each child during the academic year they reach the age of five (for most children this is the reception year in primary school). As a child minder I work in line with the EYFS.
• Starting a business from the beginning promoting and building its reputation.
• Managing the day to day running of the setting
• Creating a caring and stimulating environment that promotes learning through play.
• Running the setting in line with environmental, health and safety and fire regulations.
• Supervising activity planning to make sure that children's needs are met.
• Working closely with parents to promote positive relationships and giving them a chance to be involved, including regular parents' evenings.
• Making sure that equipment, such as furniture and toys, are in good condition and are suitable for children.
• Ensuring my assistant has up to date training and DBS.
• Carrying out regular risk assessments, being aware of training needs and developing teamwork.
• Managing a budget and making sure that the setting is profitable
administration tasks, such as with regular.
• Regularly reviewing policies and procedures and ensuring staff and parents adhere to them.
• Working in line with Early years framework
• Taking up any training available to improve my knowledge and setting
• Keeping up to date with changes to the welfare requirements and EYFS
• Always looking for opportunities to improve on my practice.
