I have achieved grades in English, maths, child development and more at GCSE level along with 2 years of sixth form studying a level 3 BTEC qualification in Children's Play, Learning and Development.
I was involved in several clubs and teams, including dancing, swimming, drama and trampolining. These taught me how to work with other people and communicate with people effectively. I am keen in pursuing a career in childcare as I find this interesting and would like to make a difference in children’s lives. I think my choice in studies would make me an excellent asset to a childcare setting; in my time at sixth form I gathered experience in different placements in different age ranges. I completed 272 hours in the age range 4-6; 245 hours in the age range 5-7; 175 hours in a nursery that looked after children from the ages of 3 months to 5 years and I have had experience with SEN children from the ages 11-15. I like to get the job at hand done efficiently either by working independently or by working as part of team. I am a critical thinker and I am good at decision making through analysis of the options available.
While at sixth form I went into multiple schools on placement this has helped me gain experience in a childcare setting. I understand the importance of confidentiality in order to keep children safe. I have also developed the skills to talk to adults in the setting, including parents/carers and staff. To complete my course I had to work on a portfolio, in this I had to observe children and develop activity plans, carefully recording the outcomes to show how the plans supported their growth and development. I also completed a paediatric first aid course and risk assessments making sure children are safe when doing activities. I have also worked at a kids club at half term where I supervised the children and kept them active during half term. I was a team leader based at Jericho primary school working for fitness4all where we did activity’s like football, kwik cricket, rounders, rugby, athletics, parachute games and more.
