I'm a kind, dependable, and optimistic individual passionate about working with children and supporting their emotional and educational needs.
Spending time outdoors and connecting with nature is a top priority for me, and as I believe children thrive outdoors, I'll happily take your little ones on trips to farms, parks, forests, petting zoos and so on.
In my free time, I enjoy foraging and tending to my allotment, which I can happily incorporate into the day to foster their connection to the earth and understanding of how food grows - previous little ones have loved going there!
For indoor activities, I like to encourage creativity through arts and crafts, particularly seasonal crafts using items they've collected during nature walks. Role-playing, imaginative play, drawing, baking, cooking, playgroups or playdates are also wonderful options on a rainy day
With a background in Ayurvedic health, I am open to integrating this knowledge into your family's lifestyle if it aligns with your interests.
I've lived abroad for 5 years therefore I'm comfortable adapting to new cultures and believe having cultural awareness is greatly important.

My Experience
I have a diverse and well-rounded background in childcare and education. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with children of various ages, ranging from 10 months to 16 years old, including those with special educational needs.
I have been nannying since August 2021. First, I had the pleasure of looking after a 1-year-old for 6 months before he started nursery. As well as, working predominantly with a lovely family and their 18 month old until she went to nursery aged 2.5. It was an honour to watch her grow and develop while I cared for her, particularly seeing her language skills develop so rapidly.
Next, I looked after a sweet 2-year-old boy. We have lots of fun playing with friends at playgroups, going to the park, going to my allotment, going to gymnastics as well as the farm, and on a rainy day he loves Aerospace and the museum.
My current role has been very unique and rewarding as I've supported a family with their wonderful 8-year-old boy as he recovers from cancer treatment. Thankfully, he's doing so well that he can go back to school!
After moving back to the UK I worked as an SEN TA around Bristol primary schools. My main role was in the Resource base with an 8-year-old girl who had autism. The nature of the classroom meant I supported the other children in the class too, and dealt with challenging behaviour and a wide range of learning needs.
Previous to this, I worked for 3 years teaching English as a foreign language in Vietnam where I taught a variety of ages from 4 years old to 18+. I often privately tutored children after classes and I continued to teach online once I returned to the UK so I'm comfortable with delivering lessons online.
During this time I also taught kids yoga (I have a qualification from Rainbow Kids Yoga).
I worked for two Steiner kindergartens whilst in Vietnam and I really resonate with this teaching style, although I am not formally trained as a Steiner teacher.
Before this, I worked as a mother's helper in Australia for a 10-month-old baby providing weekly care. This involved creating healthy meals, taking her for walks, and playing engaging games to support her development.
I've worked part-time caring for a 1-year-old while his mother was at work once a week.
I was also a live-in au pair for 6 weeks in Sweden to two girls aged 7 & 9.

My Availability
I work Tues & Weds with my current family but will be finishing up with them for the summer. I will have availability throughout July & August for school holidays.
Then, I will be available from October onwards for 2 days a week (Tues, Weds or Thurs).
I'd be happy to find two families that want to do a nanny share (I would care for two children together so it works best if the two families know each other).
Available days: Tues and Weds, or Weds and Thurs
Price per hour: £10 per hour per family (instead of £16 per hour per family)

It was an absolute joy to have Sophie looking after my toddler for over 6 months. She has such a warm and gentle energy, my son quickly built a strong bond with her, and I felt really supported by her too.
Very reliable and professional in her manner, she is also intuitive in her relationship with children, helping to continue the gentle parenting ideals I have been working towards.
I would highly recommend Sophie as a nanny or babysitter, she brings such a kind, calm energy to the house.
I can't thank you enough for getting us through some really tough times Sophie!

Sophie has been with us for over a year. She joined us when our daughter was 18months old and has seen us through teething, first words, dropping naps, colours and first art-works(!!), early counting, fairy-cake-baking, early potty training and more.
Our daughter has benefitted hugely from the patient love, care and nurturing she has received from Sophie. Extremely reliable and consistent, we have relied on Sophie more than she will ever know!
Holding gentle boundaries and supporting our daughter’s learning through creative play and daily adventures, Sophie has influenced her language development and interpersonal skills that I don’t think she would have in another setting, or without the relationship she has with Sophie.
Our daughter speaks her own mind and when I asked her how she feels about Sophie, she said: “Fifi is my best friend”. Says it all doesn’t it?
