About Me
Hello, my name is Barbara, I have an adult son, Craig who now has his own family.
I aim to provide a safe, secure, stimulating, nurturing and happy home from home environment where children can learn, grow and have fun. A place where parents can safely leave their children knowing their child's care and well being come first.
My policy is to work with parents, carers and/or guardians by keeping them informed in their child's day to day care and routine while at my setting.
I am available to drop off and collect from most local schools and nurseries. At present I am doing East Fulton in Linwood and Kilbarchan nurseries.
I am recently registered with the council to offer the ELC Funded Placements, either full-time or blended time, shared with parents chosen nursery, which I recommend as that will give your child the full range of Early Learning and Childcare experience.
My Experience
I have been registered since 1991 with the registering body, now the Care Inspectorate to care for six children under the age of 16, of which three can be under 5 years.
I was graded 5 - very good in my last inspection.
My home is registered to use the two upstairs bedrooms for the children to sleep somewhere quiet, with the use of a baby monitor.
Downstairs there is a lounge, kitchen, playroom and toilet/changing room.
A games console and hand held games device with age appropriate games are available in the playroom with parental approval.
Children have their own individual folders containing photos of their activities, achievements and drawings, colouring, 'All about Me' etc.
There are two large toy cupboards from where the children can choose their resources and activities.
Outside the secure back garden has a large playhut kitted out with table, chairs, cookers, etc and foam letter flooring. Also in the garden is a large tp swing frame secured on top of safety surface grass, there is also a 'garage' shed housing the sit 'n' ride cars and trikes, sand and water table, children have their own planters for them to grow veg and flowers.
Outdoors is always available to the children and I have 8 'Puddle suits' in assorted sizes for the children so wet weather does not interfere with their fun and outdoor learning.
My Qualifications
I keep up to date with my CPD by attending training days and evenings available on current and best practices, new legislations, First Aid, Safe Guarding Children, etc.
My formal qualifications are a two year PDA in Early years course at college - level 8 and SVQ's Levels two and three in Child Care, Learning and Development, Infection control, first aid, health and nutrition
My portfolio has all certificates and details in full along with previous users references, my Registration, business and public liability Insurace documents.
My Availability
I have full & part time places available due to children moving onto school.
I am very flexible to accomodate parents shift paterns within a Mon - Thurs 8am - 3/4pm and occasionally 3 - 6pm placement.

My Fees
- Childminding from £5.50 per hour
My fees are inline with the area
I offer a weekly fee - which is discounted by 10% on placements of 40 hours or more as well as a 10% discount to families of two or more children using my service. this will be to the oldest siblings if all members are using a minimum of 30 hours or more.
My Local Schools
This childminder has not yet informed us whether or not they provide any drop off or pick up services at local schools.

I cannot recommend Barbara enough, she is simply an amazing childminder. My 3 children were cared for by Barbara over 9 years, and I think it says it all that there were tears on the last day! Over the years Barbara has provided the highest care to my boys, whilst keeping me informed day to day. When at Barbara's house the boys were well fed with healthy nutritious meals (my boys still rave about her soup!) And given experiences they just wouldnt get at a nursery. They attended toddler groups, craft groups, and also were taken out to restaurants and even supermarkets and I loved that they got a home from home environment. Barbara's home is absolutely spotless (i dont know how she finds the time!) And the boys always came home happy with lots to tell me about their day!
The boys were always up to something, different activities and Barbara has a fantastic range of toys, equipment and learning resources. I always felt confident my children were in the best hands when they were in her care.
Barbara knows I can be quite pernickety when it comes to my children, but I was never worried and I have never had any complaints whatsoever and I cant sing her praises enough! If you're looking for a childminder then Barbara is the one!

Thank you Victoria for your very kind words, your sentiments mean a lot to me as do your wonderful boys, I still miss them.
We have been with barbara for almost 3 years when my son was 6 months. she is fantastic, very organised and can come and go with some things, ie adding days or different days etc. My son's love to go and have such great fun, they also get the chance to go to toddler groups and outings. The food is always healthy and everything is run by the parent. I recommend Barbara to everyone. She provides a safe, happy environment suitable for all ages.
