Hola! My Name is Lourdes- AKA Luli. I am an Early Years Teacher and OFSTED registered, with a ‘Good’ report in 2009, 'Outstanding' in 2015 and ‘Good’ 2019. I live in High Barnet, next-door Foulds School. I have two lovely daughters ages 17 and 14. I am originally from Venezuela, and I have lived for 20 years in this fantastic welcoming country. Our setting has a very large garden, where we spend most of our day and which is packed with wonderful and exciting resources for our children to explore and play. I am particularly orientated into following the ‘Reggio Emilia Approach’ philosophy, as It resonates with our love for nature and, how Its centred on the child and their participation on their immediate social surrounding. At the back of the kitchen, we have an area exclusively designated for children activities and toys available for children at all times. Its french doors give direct access to the garden which Is equipped with: mud kitchen, toy shed, large sand pit, gardening for children, with an extra space at the end for swings and slides, extra large trampoline, fairy land garden, construction area, little tikes car and wendy house and lots off balls to play any kind of sport. In doors activities are endless, as I love art crafts and my children as well. An adjective to describe my staff Is ‘magical’ , they seem to read my mind and have a natural ability to connect with children, forming lovely positive professional relationships. One of them has also become a childminder and started working with me 8 years ago. The other one Is our amazing assistant who Is the sweetest person ever and has now been with us for the past 2 years. We have been called by some parents as the ‘dream team’, and I have to agree with them ;).
I am an accredited childminder, which means I have quality assurance by Barnet Children's Centre. I am a qualified Early Years Teacher. I completed my degree in 2014; B.A. Child Development and families. I am currently doing my second year PGCE FE (Derby university) and lecturing childhood studies at Middlesex University on Fridays.
We are a happy early years family that enjoys providing profesional love and a safe, stimulating, harmonious environment to the children around our community. Our ethos is to make this world a better place and create independent happy little people with positive thoughts and good values for their future. Feel free to contact me to arrange a visit.
I have worked as a preschool teacher back in my country and have also completed placement in Uk schools in reception year. I also had the privileged to run a playgroup in St Stephens hall Barnet EN5, for a year (2006-2007). I have a B.A. in honours degree in childhood development and working with families. I am currently doing a PGCE in Further in education, whilst doing my placement teaching CACHE level 3 in childhood studies, allowing me to sediment and go over the basics of childcare. I also belong to a great childminders association group, which supports me as an early years professional. For more information do not hesitate in contacting me to arrange a visit.

Before my daughter was due to start at the local pre-school, I started looking for after school child care for her (she was, at that stage, too young for after school club). I had heard about Luli and her team through word of mouth and they came highly recommended.
After visiting her setting (beautiful home with a large garden for the children to enjoy) and speaking to Luli I knew it was the right place for my daughter. Luli has such a special way with children, she has a calming influence, is encouraging and really brings out the best in each and every child she cares for. She, and her team love the children like their own and put a lot of effort into organising activities and make the learning fun.
Her setting is so warm and welcoming. My daughter can be a little nervous around people she doesn’t know, so when we had her first settling session I had expected her to want me to stay/some tears if I tried to leave. But Luli and the other children put her right at ease and amazingly she told me she was happy for me to go. No tears at all! And she was so excited to tell me what they got up to when I collected her.
I can’t leave a review without also commenting on the effort Luli put in to continue to engage with the children during lockdown (March to June 2020). We had regular zoom calls, with activities, online stories, singing etc, which my daughter really looked forward to and helped to maintain the close bonds she has built up with Luli and her team. It was truly amazing and a testament to how devoted they are and how much they love the children.
My daughter absolutely loves going to Luli’s after school. So much so, that even though she is now old enough to go to the after school club, she still goes to Lulis as she looks forward to seeing her and spending time with the children there. Thank you Luli and team for everything you do – you are wonderful and we feel v lucky to have found you!
I found Louli through this website. After reading reviews on her page I was eager to visit her setting. I stayed about an hour for the first visit, and I was very impressed with both her and her assistant (Alma). They have amazing connection with the children.
My daughter started going to Louli's when she was 7 month old and she is now 13 month old. She started going to the setting for two mornings (7.30-15.00) per week and will start full time this September. We had a very long settling period (about a month) as I didn't need to go back to work yet. I find it amazing that Louli has the flexibility to vary the length of settling period based on children/parents' comfortability. Some of the nurseries I know don't have this kind of flexibility.
Right after the end of the settling period we had the lock-down and Louli weren't able to open her setting until two months later. However, during the lockdown, Louli put in great efforts to keep her connection with the children. She spent every morning online with children doing activities. The impact was obvious. When Louli re-opened her setting, I worried that my daughter may need another settling period, but she immediately attends the setting for the full hours we subscribed. She naps, plays and eats well there.
The other thing that I want to mention is Louli's amazing work to minimise the virus risk when she re-opened the setting. She adapts her setting, keeps communication with the parents and coordinates with her staff. I think sometimes parents may have doubts that whether small-scale childcare providers are able to maintain good practice but Louli always does the best of everything.
Louli organised wonderful activities for children that are fun, educative, and creative. Both of her assistants (Alma and Lona) are also very caring and dedicated. I cannot wait for my daughter to start full time at her place in September. I just feel really lucky that we find her.
My husband and I have three daughters aged 14, 7 and 3 years old. My husband is a small business owner, I’m a doctor - we need good reliable childcare which gives us peace of mind and support to maintain our busy personal and professional lives.
We have gained a lot of experience with finding and employing childcare over the years - we think we know a good childcare provider when we see one!
Lourdes’ excellent reputation precedes her. When we told local families that Lourdes might have a space for our two younger girls (who were 2 and 6 years old at the time), we were told we were lucky to get a place with her and all comments/feedback within the local community were very positive - for example, one neighbour said “she’s fab” which just about sums it up!
We think Lourdes is outstanding – we call her the “baby/child-whisperer”. She has a calming influence on our girls and can get them to do things we cannot, for example she manages to get them to eat food they refuse to eat when we are around and she can get our littlest one to sleep much more easily than we can manage. She has a special way with children – our girls adore her and feel really comfortable in her care. They look forward to seeing her and spending time with her. We trust her with our precious adorable girls. She has become an important part of our family – we all love her.
Lourdes is positive and enthusiastic. She is proactive in her support of our children’s emotional development and learning. She takes an interest in them as individuals and tailors her care to their unique needs. She is very creative in developing ways of supporting our children’s learning - she makes learning fun and centres a lot of their learning outside which is so important for their overall well-being and development.
We can see how devoted Lourdes is to her work. She goes above and beyond what is expected when she cares for our children. She puts great effort into organising activities for them, engaging in imaginary play or doing an art project with them. Lourdes provides a calm and loving atmosphere for our daughters. When we return from work, we return to happy children who feel safe and secure - this is wonderful for us as working parents.
We feel lucky to have Lourdes in our lives.
Both of our children have enjoyed growing, learning and laughing with Lourdes and her wonderful team. The environment offers all you could wish for in terms of variance, stimulation and structured activities. Having moved quite a few times in recent years we tried out a number of nurseries and childcare options and we can say with 100% confidence that Lourdes offers the most rounded and love-filled childcare by a country mile.
Lourdes and the team really feel like an extension of our own family. The communication is excellent, the food is wonderful and overall we feel very lucky to have our children loved and looked after by Lourdes whilst we're at work.
Couldn't be happier, thank you 🙏
Both my boys have been going to Luli for 4 months now. They absolutely adore Luli and (her assistant) Alma. Particularly my younger who is there full time is so well adjusted and has been learning a lot since the first day. Luli is extremely qualified in early years education, as a parent i also learned a lot from her. I feel very lucky to have found a childminder setting that can be so very loving, and dedicated to learning/development at the same time. Also, the food they serve is quite amazing. She is also doing a great job in maintaining the communication in terms of food, nap times, activities of the day/week through the app. Overall i am very impressed. 5 stars from us.
