My Summary

My Experience

My latest job has been nannying for a family with a 6 and 2 year old (5 and 17 months when started). This was a year long job and definitely my most enjoyable job to date, a truly wonderful year. It was so nice to spend so much time with the kids and grow a caring relationship with them where they could depend on me when they were in my care. We spent our days on outings exploring and learning so many new things together. We loved going to our Thursday toddler groups where we where able to socialise with other children.
Prior to this I was working as a temporary nanny in London. This was a 6 week job with a 7 month old baby girl and her older sisters who where 10 and 12. During this job I had sole charge of the baby, 5 days a week. This meant sticking to a routine and ensuring all needs of all the children where met. During this job I would take the baby to classes and create age appropriate activities which supported all areas of her development. This was such an enjoyable job and even though it was only 6 weeks I was able to build such a bond with the children which was the most amazing gift.
I have done a work placement in a Pre-Nursery group in which the children where aged between 24 months and 3 years. While in this setting I spent time setting up and creating fun engaging activities which also helped and involved all areas of their development.
Another placement I volunteered my time in a SEN department of The Duchess High School. The SEN department was part of the lower school so the children where aged between eleven and fourteen. during this placement I spent lots of time communicating with children in which ever way best suited them as an individual. This placement was all about supporting the individuals in the setting and treating them the same as all the other pupils in the school. It was the most rewarding experience seeing how the support from me could bring these children into a main stream school everyday and enjoy it.
Another job I have had was some volunteering i did during my final years of high school. Whilst playing rugby myself I also helped coach and manage a year 7 (11 and 12 year olds) and year 8 (12 and 13 year olds) girls team. We trained on a Tuesday night after school and went on to play in competitions with other schools. During the Tuesday nights I enjoyed teaching the girls about working as a team and the importance of being inclusive as well as general rugby skills.
