My Summary
About Me
My name is Katie and I am a qualified teacher and tutor. Class teachers work extremely hard everyday to support the children in their class, however, my experience has shown me that it is just not possible to provide the one to one support required by so many children on a day to day basis, and particularly for those who find the school environment challenging, for example, if they have been diagnosed with a Neurodiverse need, such as ADHD, AST, cognitive developmental delay, and Social, Emotional, Mental Health needs. Your child may not be in school at the moment through exclusion or refusal, I understand this can be for many reasons, and the school environment is not always the best fit.
I am passionate about inclusive education and holistic, multisensory learning. This is sometimes what is missing from the classroom environment due to the time pressures of each day. Every child is an individual and that means they may need a multisensory approach. Ranging from hands on tactile learning, auditory learning and organisational skills. I will find the approach that best suits your child or young person, and provide engaging and purposeful lessons for them. I really hope I can support your child to grow in confidence and support their well-being alongside academic success.
My Experience
I have taught in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and 2 (KS1), years 3, 4, 5 and 6 (Lower and Upper KS2) and GCSE level maths and English (KS3-4). I have up to date specialist training in early reading (phonics), maths mastery and English (Literacy) strategies. I have experience in delivering interventions 1-2-1 and in small groups. I have worked with children with a range of Neurodiverse needs and Personal, Social, Emotional and Mental Health development needs. I tutor children and young people with funding for home education, or who are not currently in a school placement.
