About Me

Hello and thank you for taking the time to read all about me!
My name is Grace and I am a friendly, enthusiastic, active and organised 31 year-old nanny and qualified primary school teacher, with a total of nearly 11 years experience teaching and caring for children from ages 0-11 (3 years of shared charge teaching on university placements, 4.5 years sole charge of own class and 3 years as a daily and rota nanny). Working with children is my passion and I am dedicated to providing high-quality care, to ensure all children get the best start in life.
I am an approachable, flexible, kind and caring individual, with lots of experience successfully working with children. In my spare time, I enjoy baking and cooking, reading, hiking, painting and listening to music. I also relish the opportunity to travel, visit different countries and experience different cultures.

My Experience

For the past 2.5 years, I have worked as a rota nanny for older children (B12 & G15). Prior to this, I was a daily nanny for 4 girls (3, 6, 8 & 10) with mix of sole and shared care in both roles.
My roles have comprised of daily care of the children from morning to night; in term time this includes helping to get them ready for school and ensuring they have everything they need for their school day, transporting the children to and from school as well as any extra curricular clubs, preparing breakfast, dinner and any healthy snacks during the day, supporting with homework and learning of phonics for younger children, often using my previous teaching experience to create materials to support learning at home, playing with the children, bathing children and ensuring they maintain good personal hygiene, reading stories and supporting with a bedtime routine. During school holidays, my role extends to travelling with families and providing childcare on holiday, organising and taking children on fun and exciting trips to museums, parks, art galleries etc.., creating fun activities for the children to do at home and booking enjoyable summer clubs and sporting activities.
In my previous role, I managed and organised most parts of the girls lives, for example liaising with school and teachers about school work, organising play dates with friends, ordering uniform, clothes and shoes they may need, organising and coordinating birthday parties and scheduling health appointments and accompanying the girls to these.
When the children were at school, I also supported the family with light housekeeping and general errands such as making the girl's beds, tidying up after meals, managing visitors to the house, taking packages to the post office and shopping for groceries.
In my current role, I am also responsible for the care and wellbeing of the two family dogs.
For both roles, I have often babysat during the week and proxy-parented when parents have been away.
I have, and continue to travel extensively with my nanny families and I am a strong swimmer and skier, accompanying the children during both activities on holiday.
The safety and well-being of the children in my care is of upmost importance; I am a level 2 paediatric first aider and have much experience treating a wide range of ailments. As well as looking after the children’s physical health, I support children’s mental health, often being a friendly ear to listen to any worries they have and helping to find solutions so that they are as happy as they can be. I have much experience with neurodivergent children (especially those with ADHD) and children with anxiety.

During my time as a teacher, I supported and co-ordinated 30 children each year, planning and delivering exciting and educational lessons and activities, teaching key life skills, safeguarding children’s welfare and supporting their physical, emotional and social development. I also have much experience with Phonics and early reading, which will be highly beneficial to families with younger children.
I taught Year 3 and have previously taught in Nursery, Year 1 and Reception, however I am extremely familiar with the national curriculum for all ages. I have supported the children I care for with homework projects, presentations, weekly show and tells and homework booklets, and enjoy using my teaching skills on a 1-1 basis.
As the school’s head of Physical Education (PE), I had a very active day-to-day life. I arranged and planned sporting events, as well as coordinated all extra-curricular activities for the school. I very much enjoy doing physical activities with the children I care for and have enjoyed playing football, rounders and netball, trampolining and swimming, just to name a few!
