My Summary
About Me
Hello and thank you for taking the time to read all about me!
My name is Grace and I am a friendly, enthusiastic, active and organised 30-year-old nanny and qualified primary school teacher, with a total of nearly 10 years experience teaching and caring for children from ages 2-11 (3 years of shared charge teaching on university placements, 4.5 years sole charge of own class and 3 years as a daily and rota nanny). Working with children is my passion and I am dedicated to providing high-quality care, to ensure all children get the best start in life.
I am an approachable, flexible, kind and caring individual, with lots of experience successfully working with children. In my spare time, I enjoy baking and cooking, swimming, playing netball, listening to music and going for walks. I also relish the opportunity to travel, visit different countries and experience different cultures.
My Experience
I am currently working as a daily nanny for 4 young girls ages 3-11, which is a mix of sole and shared care. My role comprises of daily care of the girls; in term time this includes helping to get them ready for school and ensuring they have everything they need for their school day, transporting the children to and from school as well as any extra curricular clubs, preparing healthy snacks and evening meals, supporting with homework and learning of phonics, often using my previous teaching experience to create materials to support learning at home, playing with the children, bathing children and ensuring they maintain good personal hygiene, reading stories and supporting with a bedtime routine. During school holidays, my role extends to organising and taking the girls on fun and exciting trips to museums, parks, art galleries etc.., creating fun activities for the girls to do and booking enjoyable summer clubs and sporting activities.
I manage and organise most parts of the girls lives, for example liaising with school and teachers about school work, organising play dates with friends, ordering uniform, clothes and shoes they may need, organising and coordinating birthday parties and scheduling health appointments and accompanying the girls to these.
When the children are at school, I also support the family with light housekeeping and general errands such as making the girl's beds, tidying up after meals, managing visitors to the house, taking packages to the post office and shopping for groceries.
I often babysit during the week and have proxy-parented over weekends when both parents have been out of the country.
I travel often with my current family and I am a strong swimmer and skier, accompanying the children during both activities on holiday.
The safety and well-being of the children in my care is of upmost importance; I am a level 2 paediatric first aider and have much experience treating a wide range of ailments (as you can imagine with 4 children and previously being a primary school teacher!). As well as looking after the children’s physical health, I support children’s mental health, often being a friendly ear to listen to any worries they have and helping to find solutions so that they are as happy as they can be.
During my time as a teacher, I supported and co-ordinates 30 children each year, planning and delivering exciting and educational lessons and activities, teaching key life skills, safeguarding children’s welfare and supporting their physical, emotional and social development. I also have much experience with Phonics and early reading, which will be highly beneficial to families with younger children.
I taught Year 3 and have previously taught in Nursery, Year 1 and Reception, however I am extremely familiar with the national curriculum for all ages. I have supported the girls I care for with homework projects, presentations, weekly show and tells and homework booklets, and enjoy using my teaching skills on a 1-1 basis.
As the school’s head of Physical Education (PE), I had a very active day-to-day life. I arranged and planned sporting events, as well as coordinated all extra-curricular activities for the school. I very much enjoy doing physical activities with the children I care for and have enjoyed playing football, rounders and netball, trampolining and swimming, just to name a few!
