Ofsted Graded Outstanding. Funded Places Offered 2,3 & 4 years olds.
My name is Scarlet Jeffrey, I am a 38 years old non-smoker and I live in Highbridge with my husband, our two children, (eldest flown the nest), Pop the Gerbil and Archie the Bichon Frise.
Our home is friendly and full of fun. We have an enclosed garden and a playroom full of stimulating toys, arts and crafts, books, learning resources, games and puzzles.
I am a fully insured Ofsted registered childminder.
Being fit and healthy is an important part of my life. I do own a car; however I strive to walk everywhere, even in the bad weather. It is so important to your health and wellbeing to do a lot of walking in your daily routine.
I am a happy, easy going person who encourages all children in my care to take part in all activities and have fun.
It is important that there is daily routine in place so that children feel safe and happy and that they know what to expect whilst they are with me. I always make the activities within our daily routine as varied as possible. There is a wide range of toys, arts and crafts, cooking, play doh, reading, games etc. I also offer a wide range of outings; going to the local market and shops, going to the local parks, the library, farms, beaches, nature walks, swimming, local play sessions and other local places.
With many years of parenting experience I have found that children like to know where their boundaries are, so I do have house rules and I expect children to follow them. I encourage children in my care to be independent and give praise and reward for all good behaviour and achievements.
Childcare Experience since November 2000
Ofsted Registered Childminder since August 2012
Ofsted Graded GOOD February 2013
Ofsted Graded OUTSTANDING November 2016
There is less than three years between my first two children and ten years between my eldest and youngest child, so I am happy in the knowledge that I can offer children of different ages stimulating play and activities at the same time.
I have also cared for friends’ children, so that they can have a break or to go to work.

I can't recommend Scarlet enough! She has helped both my sons settle in quickly as it was their first time away from home. They were excited to spend the day with her and I never had to 'force' them to go. She supported my oldest son in strengthening his speech development and worked with me to advocate for his needs. She helped build his confidence and he has blossomed so much since starting with her.
We found their time with Scarlet was a great balance of child led and teacher directed growth through pre planned lessons, child directed activities, and diverse outings.
We always knew what to expect and how our son's days were because of her consistent, personalized, and timely communication. My favorite is the memory books she completes for each child.
Scarlet is friendly, enthusiastic, professional, and reliable. You can tell she loves her job and cares about the kids she teaches. We are so sad to be moving away from her but are so greatful our kids have been influenced by her.
This lady has looked after my little girl since she was 2, I did at one point have Scarlett and nursery as felt she would benefit from the classroom environment, I soon realised she just didn’t get the same type of care and education that Scarlett provides, so took her out of nursery and put her back with Scarlett, konnie loved going there I never had any problems getting her too go, she learnt so much stuff, things I never even knew lol! “ie Crescent” to name just one of the many shapes konnie learnt which I had never heard of lol! We are very sad that she won’t be returning to Scarlett as is now going to school in sept. Can’t recommend this lady enough xx
If I was half as good at mothering as scarlet is at childminding then my life would be a whole lots easier!
I cannot recommend Scarlet enough as a childminder and just generally as a person, she cares for and loves your child just as much as you do and creates an amazing relationship with all of her mindees. Scarlet has a way about her that lights up every room and makes you feel very welcomed.
My boy has been with scarlet for a year and has honestly learned more than I could have taught him in that time. She provides home cooked meals and a playroom filled with different toys everyday, takes daily walks to parks/woods/the beach and then ends the day by adding everything into TapestryJournal so you get a whole playbook of your child's day. Scarlet has been with us through toilet training and has so much patience and experience, also shares advice and concerns which is fantastic.
I'm very sad to be moving on from Scarlet and her whole family, as she will be greatly missed by both my son and I, but I know that I can count on her for any holiday care if its needed in the future.
Our son was with Scarlet from 9 months old, and on starting school has been back for school holidays (along with many other mindees who were with him from an early age). Our daughter has been with Scarlet for almost a year and a half (and hopefully will be returning in school holidays in due course).
Scarlet is friendly, professional, outgoing and very enthusiastic about her job. There is a huge range of toys for the children to chose from, with toys also rotated on a weekly basis. She provides lots of craft activities and has a safe garden for playing outside. She also takes the children on outings, which they love.
Scarlet and her family are very welcoming to all mindees, and our children have really enjoyed going there. She is very supportive of each child's development, and includes the children in decision making when possible - such as where they will go for a particular outing.
Scarlet provides a warm welcoming, safe (home from home) environment and an excellent standard of care. I would definitely recommend her.
Scarlet has been childminder to my three children for the past 3 years. Scarlet, along with her family, has become a significant part of our family life and without her, it just wouldn't have been the same.
I fully trust Scarlet to look after the children and I know it is not easy for kids with allergies to always find someone who has an awareness of this and other medical needs. We have never had any problems while in their care with Scarlet.
She has been a great asset to my children's emotional, physical and educational development providing structure as well as room to explore and be creative. She frequently updates on TapestryJournal and shares progress and pictures on here.
Scarlet is very well organised (thank goodness as I am not!) and always has any paperwork prepared as well as relating any messages which might have been passed home from school. Her setting is clean and tidy with room for the children to play and do other activities. She also has a garden where the children love to go in the warmer weather. Scarlet had a dog now and I was a little worried my very allergic - to - everything daughter would react but I can reassure that there has not been any problem whatsoever and he is a gorgeous pup who loves the kids as they do he.
The children have breakfast and tea at her setting so I am rest assured they are fed an watered when I get home from work. This is a huge benefit to me.
There have been times when I have asked Scarlet at short notice to have the children and she has been very flexible and accommodating.
Sadly, we are moving away from the area shortly and Scarlet with very much be missed as will her family. I could not have asked for a more caring, considerate and organised minder for my children and wish I could take her with me!
