About Me
My name is Gemma, I’m a teacher who has decided to become a childminder in order to spend more time with my young son while helping other children. Having worked with children in different countries, I am adept at understanding and catering to children’s needs and love to see them playing happily.
I strive to encourage confidence and teamwork in children from all backgrounds. I provide learning through exploration and play, including art, music and dance. One of my passions is reading and story time is a cosy, calming part of our day. I provide home cooked meals and snacks and ensure children get outdoors every day.
My home is close to transport links, a primary school and library. It has off-road parking on a quiet cul-de-sac. It has various learning and play areas, including an excellent outdoor space. There are opportunities for nature walks and visiting nearby play parks.
I’ve really been enjoying being a full time childminder since September 2023, meeting lots of lovely families and their little ones and watching them grow and develop!
My Experience
10 years experience of teaching English as an Additional Language (2013-present);
3 years experience of secondary school teaching (2020-present);
Learning Support for SEND students for 1 year;
Having my own son (now one year old) has also given me valuable experience. I’ve been through the sometimes stressful and nerve-wracking process of looking for childcare myself so I hope I can make this smoother and more reassuring for you as parents/guardians.
My Qualifications
Degree in Sociology and Economics (2011);
Celta - certificate in English language teaching (2011);
Delta - diploma in English language teaching (2017);
NSPCC Designated Safeguarding Lead training (2018);
PGCE in Secondary English (2020);
Tiney’s childminder training, including first aid training (2023).

£40/day (6-hour day)
£10/hour (out of hours)
Snacks, fruit and drinks are included in my fees, as are nappies, wipes and other essentials such as sun cream.
