About Me
Hi there, my name is Clare Leybourne. I am a registered childminder with an agency.
Previously, I was an Early Years and Primary school teacher for over 20 years. I have had ongoing professional development in all areas of education and particularly in the EYFS. I have a keen interest in stories as a springboard to learning and and creative play - I created an art therapy course for the children in my previous setting. I was an Early Years Co-ordinator, Early Years to Primary Transition Coordinator and ICT coordinator during my previous career.
I also taught every age group from Nursery to year 6 after I had my youngest daughter, as an in-house cover teacher, meaning I have a working knowledge of the entire primary age range, although most of my time was spent in Early Years.
We moved to Walton on the Naze in 2021 and we absolutely love it here!
Now that my family is settled, I am getting ready to welcome children to be cared for here. We live a very short walk from the beach and have lots of opportunities for play both in our home and the local area.
I really believe in child-centred learning through play and I love providing enriching experiences for the children who come to our home!
My Experience
As the oldest grandchild in a big family, I was handed the babies as soon as I could hold them! I loved looking after the little ones so much, including my 2 younger siblings, that I only ever wanted to work with children. This eventually led to a Primary teaching qualification with 20+ years teaching, mostly in Early Years, which I absolutely loved!
I was at my last school for 16 years, so I was lucky enough to see lots of children grow up, and sometimes taught whole families as they went through the school.
I am also a Mum of 2 girls, one grown up and one secondary age, and a proud aunt to my 3 nephews and 3 nieces.
Creating a welcoming and nurturing atmosphere in my home for little ones is really important to me. We have fun here!
My Qualifications
BA Honours in Education (English Literature Specialism) with Qualified Teacher Status
20+ years teaching, mostly in Early years and using the EYFS curriculum, although I regularly taught all year groups as a cover teacher.
Teaching - Nursery to Year 6.
Paediatric First Aid Training including epipen training
Food Hygiene

My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
My fees are for Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm. £6 per hour, £50 for a full day.
After school pick up and care - £6.50 an hour for a minimum of 2 hours.
Fee includes drinks, lunch and healthy snacks.
