About Me
I am a semi-retired teacher of 32 years, living in Swindon with my husband, two adult daughters and docile Labrador. When I am not tutoring, I enjoy walking, reading and gardening.
My Experience
I trained at Bath College of Higher Education to become a Secondary School teacher of Home Economics. My first post was in Essex, where I was also a Head of Year. We moved to Swindon and I was employed as a Head of Home Economics, a post which I stepped down from after having my two children. In 2005, I was employed as a PPA teacher in my local Primary school, teaching every year group Art based activities once a fortnight. My role then changed and I started teaching Phonics 1-1 and to small groups. A position opened up as a classroom teacher one day a week in Year 3. This progressed to four days a week. I then worked in Year 4 for four years. Whilst I haven't taught a class any higher than Year 4, I have tutored pupils in Year 5 & 6, supporting them with reading, writing and SPAG. I have also tutored KS1 pupils. During my Primary career, I had a reputation as a nurturer. Last academic year, I was employed by our local Secondary school as an exam invigilator, which I will continue to do.
My Qualifications
BEd (Hons) degree in Home Economics at Bath College of Higher Education.
My Availability
I prefer to tutor at my house and am available after school Monday to Thursday.
