About Me
My name is Grace, I am 19 years old. I'm from Swindon but live in Winchester for university where I study primary education. When I'm not living in Winchester I am at home with my mum, dad, brother and dog. My dream is to be a primary school teacher where I can work abroad in different cultures, learn new languages and explore the world. I just spent the summer working in Italy teaching English to children aged 5-15. I also work for my local council with children who have learning difficulties.
My Experience
I am currently employed by my local council to work with children with difficulties, this can range from non-verbal to children with ADHD or autism. I have worked here for nearly three years, I work here one Saturday a month and in half terms and summer holidays. I have a lot of responsibility within this role, I am first aid trained, medical, fire, food and hygiene, allergy and asthma trained. I am very confident with personal care and have worked with children in groups and children who are in need 1-1 assistance.
Due to being a trainee teacher, I have got classroom experience and responsibilities. I have worked in a mainstream school and a forest school.
This summer I worked abroad with children in Italy for a company called Bell Beyond, where I was a Tutor. During this time I was responsible for a class of 10-15 children with English as their second language. This was a 9-5 job for two-week intervals. During this time I had to arrange activities such as crafts and outdoor games, this was to encourage their English language.
I currently work in a nursery in Worthy Down since September and work with children as young as 6 months up to 5 years old here. This has given me experience with infant and taught me many skills like, changing nappy's, feeding and soothing.
I have lots of younger family and my grandmother is a foster carer so have had a lot of experience with children who have social difficulties.
During my secondary education, I did my Duke of Edinburgh Bronze award, where I volunteered at my local brownies where I helped a group of girls achieve badges and accomplish tasks. I volunteered here for 6 months in 2019.
