I was born in Nagpur, often referred to as the centre of India, in 1996, where I grew up with my loving parents and elder brother. During my childhood, my family relocated frequently across different parts of India, exposing me to diverse environments and cultures. My parents ensured a warm and nurturing upbringing for my brother and me.
One of the fondest memories of my childhood was spending time at my best friend's house, where her mom ran a little teaching setup for local kids. Together, my friend and I pitched in, helping out with English, Maths, and Science lessons, and just being there for the kids when her mom needed to run errands. Those moments lit up my soul; it was when I realized how much joy and fulfillment I found in being around children.
Fast forward to my academic years, I followed my passion for technology and ventured into a Master's program in Computer Science at the University of Leeds, UK. London had always been a dream destination for me, but my studies kept me tied up until after graduation.
Now, here I am, immersing myself in the energy of London, diving headfirst into the tech scene, networking, hustling on personal projects, and chasing that dream job. Amidst the hustle and bustle, I've carved out time for a practice that's close to my heart—meditation. It's been a game-changer, aiding in my personal growth, instilling in me qualities such as calmness, empathy, and an appreciation for the beautiful interconnectedness of humanity.
My Experience
While I don't have professional experience as a nanny, I do have valuable experience from my personal life that I believe is relevant to the role. During my school years, I regularly assisted my friend's mother, who ran a small teaching setup for children between 4-14 years old in our neighborhood. I spent approximately 5-10 hours per week, usually after school or on weekends, helping out with various tasks.
My main responsibility was to support the children's learning by assisting with English and Maths lessons, as well as providing supervision and care when needed. I also had the opportunity to engage with the children's parents, checking in on their progress and well-being when they missed classes.
While this experience wasn't formal employment, it provided me with valuable insights into working with children and honing skills such as patience, empathy, and effective communication. I'm eager to apply these skills in a professional setting as a nanny and continue to keep learning and growing.
