My Summary
About Me
My name is Desire, and I am a fully trained registered childminder based in Heaton Chapel, Stockport. I have a genuine passion for working with children and creating a safe, nurturing environment where they can learn, grow, and thrive. As a mother of three, I understand just how important it is to provide care that is not only loving and supportive but also consistent and tailored to each child’s individual needs.
I have hands-on experience caring for children of different ages and stages, including twins, and I bring this experience into my setting every day. I know that no two children are the same, and I take the time to get to know each child in my care what makes them feel safe, what sparks their curiosity, and how they best learn. I offer a calm and engaging environment that supports children in developing their confidence and independence through play and exploration.
I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework to help guide the learning and development of every child in my care. I focus strongly on the prime areas' communication and language, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development, especially in the early years when these areas are crucial for laying strong foundations. I plan activities that are fun, age-appropriate, and meaningful, including story time, messy play, music, and outdoor exploration. I believe learning happens best when children are actively engaged and enjoying themselves.
I also love taking children out to experience the world around them. Living in Heaton Chapel, I’m fortunate to be close to parks, libraries, playgroups, and other child-friendly places that support children’s learning beyond the home. Whether we’re exploring nature, choosing books at the library, or simply walking to the shop together, I see every outing as a chance for children to learn and build confidence in real-world situations.
Routine and structure are important in my setting, as they help children feel secure and understand what to expect throughout the day. I carefully balance structured times such as mealtimes and naps with free play and adult-led activities, so children have both predictability and the freedom to explore their interests. I’m a big believer in building strong partnerships with parents and carers, and I aim to provide care that feels like an extension of the home. I communicate regularly with families, sharing updates, progress, and ideas so we can work together to support each child’s development.
Being a childminder is more than a job. For me it’s a calling. I take great pride in creating a warm, inclusive environment where every child feels seen, heard, and encouraged. I am committed to supporting each child’s early years journey and helping them develop the skills and confidence they need for the future.
My Experience
I have 10 years of experience as an Early Years educator and 5 years as a mum.
With many years of experience caring for newborns, babies, toddlers, and school-aged children, I understand the unique needs of each developmental stage. My goal is to create a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where children can grow and thrive.
As a mother of three, I bring personal insight and practical experience to my role, which allows me to connect with both children and parents on a deeper level. I am passionate about helping children achieve their full potential while giving parents peace of mind.
