My Experience
As a qualified KS2 teacher with extensive classroom experience and a strong background in private tutoring, my approach is centred around building confidence, closing learning gaps, and making learning engaging and tailored to each child’s needs. I create a supportive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow.
I use a range of evidence-based teaching strategies, including modelling, guided practice, and plenty of opportunities for independent application. I incorporate visuals, games, real-life examples, and structured scaffolding to keep lessons interactive and accessible. I regularly assess progress through informal assessments and feedback, adapting my teaching style to best suit the learning pace and style of the individual child.
My tutoring sessions typically last 60/120 minutes, with a clear structure that includes a starter to recap prior learning, a main teaching focus, and time for practice and reflection. For younger children or those with shorter attention spans, I can adjust the lesson length to 45 minutes if needed.
I hold a BA (Hons) in Education Studies and a PGCE in Primary Education with QTS. I’ve taught across Key Stage 2 and have several years of experience supporting children through private one-to-one tutoring in English and maths, helping them prepare for SATs, build subject confidence, and exceed their academic targets.
I tutor primary-aged children, mainly in Key Stage 2 (ages 7–11), including Year 5 and Year 6 students preparing for SATs. I also support children who may need targeted interventions, catch-up support, or stretch and challenge in specific areas.
