About Me
Hello! My name is Pippa, and I am a mum to two children, aged 22 and 25. I currently work as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant at a primary school, supporting children with a range of complex needs. My Experience
I currently work as a Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant in a primary school, where I support children with a wide range of complex needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional or behavioural challenges. My role involves working closely with both individual children and small groups, helping them to access learning, develop social skills, and feel secure in their environment. I use a variety of strategies tailored to each child's needs, such as visual supports, sensory play, and structured routines. I’m experienced in supporting emotional regulation, managing challenging behaviours calmly and consistently, and providing personal care where needed. I work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and families to ensure consistency and the best outcomes for the children I support. Through this role, I’ve developed a deep understanding of child development, strong communication skills, and a flexible, nurturing approach. I’m also trained in safeguarding and first aid. These experiences have equipped me with the skills and confidence to offer high-quality, compassionate care in a home setting as an evening babysitter.
My Qualifications
I hold a Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools, and am currently awaiting accreditation for my Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant. I have additional training specific to Special Educational Needs (SEN). Over the course of my career, I have completed professional development in areas such as autism awareness, ADHD, speech and language needs, and behaviour support strategies. I am trained in safeguarding and child protection, with up-to-date certification. My role has also involved personal care and manual handling, for which I have received appropriate training. These qualifications, combined with hands-on experience, have equipped me with the knowledge and confidence to support children with a wide range of complex needs both in school and home settings.
