My name is Nicola Harvey and I have been caring for children for approximately 15 years now in both commercial and private settings.
I am a married mother of three boys aged 20, 18 and 8 We live in a quiet cul-de-sac within a moments walk from Wheatfields Primary School and Sandringham Secondary School and the same distance away from a park and acres of open fields.
At home we have a good sized safe enclosed garden which enables me to extend play into the outdoors. We have lots of outdoor toys such as ride on's and push along toys, a sand and water table and bats, balls and physical play toys.
We have a puppy called Kaya, who is a bundle of energy, is very friendly and loves the children.
I offer a caring home-from-home environment whilst encouraging their confidence to explore, engage with others and learn new things. I plan weekly trips to a number of different venues, including toddler and music groups, soft play venues, wildlife parks to name a few.
At home, I plan a range of activities for the children to assist in their development and encourage babies and small children to reach their full potential through play and also to prepare them for school. I encourage the children to take part in arts and crafts, small world and reading. I aim to include children of all ages in the activities I plan. For example, whilst cooking with the older children, I use similar ingredients for messy sensory play with the younger ones.
Prior to having my last son I worked in a day nursery caring for children aged between six months and four years. I regularly planned a wide range of activities for all age groups and due to the size of the nursery I have experience of caring for multiple children of varying age ranges simultaneously.
During my time at the nursery I completed my NVQ Level 2 in Children's Care and developed a strong working knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage. I have also completed a paediatric first aid course and have put some of this knowledge into practice with my two older sons at their football and rugby pitches on the weekends!
Since working from home I regularly attend training courses to ensure that my working practices are of the highest standard.

Nicola has been looking after my 10 year old son and 12 year old daughter for over a year and I wouldn't hesitate in recommending her to look after children of any age.
Her own family has a range of ages from 2 to 13 and she manages to integrate activities for all the children so they all play nicely together - not always an easy feat!
With my children going to separate schools there is an ever changing timetable of collection times and varying after school activities that have to be accommodated and Nicola always copes well with this, quite often being the one who reminds me what's happening on any given night!
Having confidence in a child minder cannot be underestimated and happy children are always the benchmark. Nicola does a great job!
Nicola has been looking after my daughter, Katie since February 2013, when I returned to work full time after a year of maternity leave. I was very concerned about how both I and my daughter would handle this transition and looking back, I cannot believe how easy Nicola made this for both of us.
Katie settled in really well and gets on very well with all of Nicola's children, the elder of whom play with her and treat her like one of their own. Nicola provides her with a variety of nutritious, healthy food during the course of the day and I am always impressed by the variety of activities Nicola thinks of to do with such young children - far more than I could think of!
Nicola regularly takes the children on outings to the park, to a toddler group, a music class and she has been swimming with them. Katie certainly gets a lot out of her days with Nicola and she is always busy and happy when I come to collect her. Katie has learnt so much at Nicola's house and she reguarly comes home with new words.
Nicola is very flexible with times / days and was a huge help and support to my family when I was unwell. I feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful childminder through this site and I can recommend Nicola wholeheartedly.
Nicola Harvey has been looking after my daughter since February when she was just 5 months old.
Making the transition from Full time mother on Maternity to Full time working mother was a hard task however Nicola made it as painless as possible.
Her experience as a mother, and as a nursery worker previously, really shows through with her knowledge and the activities that she does with Shannon.
My Daughter adores her and her 3 children. All 3 children are lovely and the 2 older ones are friendly and polite and happily play with Shannon. Nicola's youngest is 10 months older than Shannon and they are learning off of each other with playing and sharing.
We have recently had Shannons 10 month check with the health visitor and she saw how well she is developing with all her skills and 'she is thriving'. I know that I would not have been able to teach her what Nicola has through play and activities.
Nicola is worth her weight in gold and I cannot imagine a better person to look after my child. I trust her and her family implicitly.
