I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder with Hampshire, with this registration both myself and my Husband are CRB (DBS) checked. I am also registered as a provider to accept funding for both 2 year olds and 3-4 year olds. I promote a warm, welcoming, homely environment for children who are included as part of our family. I have a varied selection of toys and equipment to support the individual needs of the children in my care. I organise a varied programme each day to interest and stimulate each of the children as they learn. I thoroughly enjoy my chosen profession and feel proud that I am doing my best in playing an important role in each child's most formative years.I am able to use my own initiative and ideas to reflect my genuine enthusiasm in developing childrens learning and I run my setting in a way that is honest, caring and trustworthy whilst still maintaining a professional, business-like manner which is appreciated by all the families I am working with. It is always my intention to provide each family with good reliable child-care where children are nurtured, educated and loved. I live with my husband in a 4 bedroomed house in the Rownhams area of Southampton, we have two adult married daughters and a beautiful granddaughter. I believe it is vital to use a positive approach to manage childrens behaviour and to lead by example, I employ a wide range of strategies to deal with any unwanted behaviour in ways which will not undermine the self esteem of the child. I fully understand what is meant by equality of opportunities and always treat each of the children in my care with equal concern. With each family we have a private "Whattsapp Group" so that parents are kept informed of the activiites we take part in, both inside and outside of my setting. Each family know that I am totally trustworthy, reliable amd honest and that can absolutely rely on me to have their child's safety, happiness and best interests at heart at all times. My role has many facets and involves a variety of skills. It is my endeavour to meet all aspects of each childs development by :- demonstrating a caring attitude to both parents and their child, working closely with the families, developing play through exploration, investigation and imagination. I also have an acute sense of humour and arms always ready for a cuddle !!
I have been a full-time Registered Childminder since I left my NHS administration role in order to be at home with my first daughter. I recognised childminding as a continuation of my experience gained at Hampshire Area Health Authority caring for the welfare of children on a different level. I have spent the last 30 years trying to raise the profile of childminding as my chosen career by offering a first class service to local parents and families. On a daily basis I plan activities and play experiences that reflect our environment. I have the advantage of being able to observe each child in an unbiased way and get to know their individual interests. I keep open excellent lines of communication with parents to assess their childs progress and evaluate how they are developing within my setting. I send home, regularly, questionnaires in order to gain parental feedback. Each child is recognised as Unique and their individual needs are met.
I hold GCSE qualifications obtained at secondary school.
I gained an OND in Business Studies obtained at Higher Education.
I was employed by Hampshire Area Health Authority for 12 years a a Senior Administrator responsible for children requiring special needs and education.

Where do I start with this very personal reveiw. I'll open with Pattie is amazing with my daughter Mila. Mila is a funny sausage with a bursting nutty character eager to learn new things everyday, Pattie keeps on top of this taking the children out to groups mixing with other children, to the library where I get pictures of Mila with her head in a book or even out for lovely adventures to the farm or even country parks. Mila runs to the door in the morning and has since day one she absolutely adores pattie. Pattie has also been brilliant with more personal advice. Me being a first time mum I'm always asking her advice and she gives the best! (which is above and beyond) down to advice on food ideas and toys ect.
When first looking for a child minder I wanted a family feel and someone who is very down to earth that would make my daughter smile giggle and enjoy her time I found this and more with Pattie.
When picking Mila up from pattie's in the evening all I can here as I stand on the door step is laughter joy and happiness from a buzzing house hold. Both Mila and Pattie greet me with a smile and buzz about there adventures of the day. Pattie lets me no naps she's had and always caters for milas needs if she needs extra naps and how much she has eaten.
My child is always emaculate when she comes home, how she keeps my toddler clean is beyond me as I barley keep her clean for an hour 😂😂😂
The main thing is Mila is so happy with Pattie and Pattie is and amazing person inside and out I trust her 100 percent and know I've found a life long friend and no if I have any more children they are lucky to have Pattie.

What a lovely surprise this testimonial is !! Thank you so, so much. It is my absolute pleasure to look after this beautiful little girl. I love Mila's approach to life - she just goes for it and makes me laugh everyday. Mila is a total joy and brightens our day - the other children in my setting really enjoy spending their days with her - she is the perfect child to advertise any childcare setting - she comes in happy and goes home happy who could ask for more ?? We love Mila and her wonderful parents.xxx
Pattie has been looking after our daughter Serena (9 months old) since the beginning of September. From our experience Pattie is a very caring and welcoming lady and we would highly recommend her and her lovely home setting, which she dedicates to the children.
The initial settling-in period is daunting for any parent but we were very quickly put at ease and welcomed into her home from day one. We get daily pictures and occasional videos of Serena having fun and we also get a ‘handover’ at the end of the day so we know how much food and sleep Serena has had. For us this communication is key and we feel lucky to have found such a nice lady.

Thank you so much for taking the time to add this review. I am really happy that you have had a positive experience leaving your little baby with me and returning to work. Although Serena has only been with us a short time she is settling really well. The other children interact beautifully with her and want her to join in with their activities !
My daughter Lily has been looked after by Pattie since she was 7 months old. Lily is always excited to see Pattie and vice versa! Pattie was very welcoming from the start and put my mind at ease about leaving Lily to return to work by arranging a settling in session and keeping me well informed during that first session. On occasions I have had to stay late at work and Pattie has always been very accomodating. I enjoy getting pictures from Pattie when I am at work showing me what Lily has been up to and getting observations and updates on her progress. Pattie has a lovely home and treats the children she cares for as one of the family. We feel very lucky to have found her!

Thank you for your kind words. It is my pleasure looking after Lily whilst you go to work. Over the last year Lily has grown from a little baby into a confident, energetic little girl. We all look forward each week to seeing Lily - she is a very important member of our little group.
Our daughter Lia went to Pattie’s at 5 months and recently left Pattie’s care at 11months.
Pros- Lia appeared to come home happy.
-Pattie doesn’t communicate about the child’s day, we rarely had any photos of activities or any demonstrations of what they had been doing during the day.
-Lia would 90% of the time be collected in a dirty nappy.
-Pattie became very personal when we paid her 2 days late on the last month (after having paid early all other months) we were with her. She then gave us notice because to her mind the relationship had broken down and she was not willing to apologise about a rude message we got whilst on holiday about paying her 2 days late.
Pattie wanted us not to come back, she allowed us to have a months notice but acted very unproffesionaly after that and made us feel very uncomfortable leaving lia with her. So there was no goodbye process for Lia who quite clearly was just a number for a money making exercise. A very sour experience for us and fortunately now we have a place at a nursery for Lia which will give her the stability from a caregiver that a child needs; alongside this, her keyworker looks forward to seeing Lia and communicates everything Lia has done during the day.
We were left heart broken after one small issue became something which ended up having a very sour ending. I cannot forgive anybody that can treat my daughter as a number and I would never recommend someone like Pattie to look after your child.
I could not agree more with all of the comments above. My eldest daughter has just left Pattie to start school, my youngest is still being cared for by Pattie. Both girls adore Pattie and her family, my eldest gets so excited when she knows she will get to see her again. I love the fact it is a home from home environment and the children are treated like extended members of the family. We do not have family close by and so feel very lucky to have found someone who I can trust to look after them. Going back to work was made so easy knowing the children are well cared for. The range of activities provided are excellent and time spent there is always looked forward to. Thank you for everything you do Pattie!

What a lovely surprise !!
I adore these two little girls. The eldest was/is the most beautiful child - she was such a delight and so enthusiastic about all the activities we did together each day. I miss her every day. The youngest little girl is so adorable - she loves to help with the younger children and she never tires of them. I think she really enjoys being the "big girl" now in my setting and will instigate activities that she enjoys. As a family we all love the fact that these two little girls see our home as an extension of theirs - they are what being a Childminder is all about.
Thank you jojobel !!
