About Me
I'm Sue McMennum, an experienced Ofsted Registered Childminder
My last Ofsted Inspection was in October 2022 and Graded A GOOD-
. I have First Aid Training, Safeguarding & Child Protection training/ Policies, SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) training / policies, A Sickness and Medical policy, An 'Understanding Emotions and Behaviour' Policy, A Covid secure policy, and many more...
I have Public Liability Insurance, Business Car Insurance, Business Home Insurance.
I live in Branksome East Poole, I have two adult sons, both with partners and a beautiful baby granddaughter who is now 1 yr. old, and a 3 yr. old adorable grandson who is also part of the childminding setting. I also have two cats who just like a quiet life.
I thoroughly enjoy caring for all of the children and find this to be very rewarding and fulfilling to see the children grow and develop in their most important early years. I offer a professional, yet friendly approach, educational and developmental play in a HOME from HOME environment. I treat everyone as individuals with equality and diversity. I Observe and track , children's play and Development, praise their achievements - which also provide leads for ‘next steps’ opportunities planning to support and explore the wider world experiences. .
I am accredited, to offer a flexible choice to parents for Government Funding for 15 hrs per term time week, from 9 months old starting September 2024 and 2 yrs old from April 24, offering up to 30 hrs for 3 & 4 yrs old for Early Education. This can be over a stretched period throughout the year, and equates to 30 hrs per week term time only / or the equivalent 1140 hrs throughout a stretched years allowance, as maximum entitlement per family. As a childminder I offer a great deal more - Additional opportunities are essentially important for developing social, emotional, communication, language, physical skills, and extending cultural capital experiences of the wider world for all ages, to learn to their full potential gaining an education and developing social skills and self confidence in readiness for starting main stream school.
I offer a Local SEND code of practice- as part of my inclusion setting.
We visit Farmer Palmers and Moors Valley for which I do require entrance fees for outings for your child - We cover beach walks and exploring, nature walks, Toddler Groups, Children Centre drop-in’s, Libraries and many more. I offer arts and crafts, messy play, dressing up, home corner, music and rhyme early start reading and writing experiences - garden play, sand and water play, balance bikes, scooters, team games including ball games, white board and chalking exploring/ planting and growing own seeds. Many activities inspire critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, communication and literacy skills - and recognition of numbers, shapes, quantities, weighting and measuring Children feel happy, secure and relaxed, when doing things that excite them and hold their interests, which is the key way of learning and developing in a natural environment.
I offer part time placements as I do not work on a Wednesday.
Flexi- shifts/Teachers term time placements are from a higher hourly fee, to retain your place for extended holiday absence - I'm open all year round with a view of taking 5 weeks annual Holiday per year, this can be at any time of the year with notice on dates given well in advance I may include a 'Closure Day' for attending any dental/medical or hospital appointments.
I charge full fees throughout your Annual Holidays, Bank Holidays and Sickness- My annual holidays are not chargeable, this gives you the flexibility to take up additional childcare if required to cover my time off- I booked my leave around my own family commitments/annual leave, and I do try and take into account my families commitments too, but it is advisable to have some emergency back-up plan to support your personal needs, if I'm closed.
. I have a COVID-19 / POLICY & RISK ASSESSMENT of which I still have in place - I operate with Safeguarding the children as my main priority- I encourage parents/families to work with Safeguarding the ' Setting' and support my setting as a partnership.
As a child-care setting we operate with- door step dropping off and collection - there are Individual boxes for your child's possessions to go in-available by the entrance door alongside using hand gel - I will continue to keep these procedures in place. This also works more efficiently for the children attending and already arrived. Viewings for newcomers will only be arranged for an available vacancy of a childcare placement - First initial viewing will take place via video call-and second viewing will take place at a convenient time planned around activities and rotas to view the setting. The Government Guidelines have up to date changes if anyone needs to refer to COVID. - but please respect my decision on additional protection as also this is my Home first and should be a safe place for myself and my family.

Our daughter has been attending Sue’s childminding since she was 12months old & she loves it!
We trust Sue not only cares for our daughter but also helps her with her development, both socially & emotionally. Sue is professional providing advice & feedback, which is always helpful as first time parents.
All the children we see at Sue’s are always happy & cheerful when I’m dropping/collecting my daughter & my daughter chats away about the other children there.
My daughter learns all sorts of things with Sue, by reading, playing with other children, arts & crafts & outdoor activities.
We are very pleased with our choice of childcare & very pleased we chose a childminder rather than a nursery. Most of all, we like the homely environment & friendly atmosphere!

Thank you very much Kate- Your daughter is always a pleasure to care for, she has grown into a very independent little being, loves to have her friends around her, and loves the older children here, she learns so much from them. Your daughter is so chatty, and learns new words every week, she has a mind of her own and shares her excitement with us all, I love having her as part of my setting.
Sue is a great childminder who is loved by my daughter who has been attending since she was 11 months old.
Sue provides a wide variety of activities each week which my daughter enjoys. From walks on the heathland, trips to the beach and parks as well as trips out to farms and play groups. She is always learning, regardless of what activities are being undertaken.
My daughter's speech has vastly improved over the last few months and she has also improved her counting and colours from being with Sue.
Sue's childcare experience has been very useful over the last 15 months my daughter has been attending. She has provided advice on potty training, illness, teething and more which I'm always grateful for!
I feel that Sue really cares about the children she looks after and like they are part of her family which is lovely.
My daughter often doesn't want to come home and says 'More Sue, more Sue ' when I've picked her up! So that shows that she enjoys her time there and Sue was the right person to choose to look after my little girl. So much so, that our newborn is already booked in!

Ah, thank you very much Vikki- I love looking after your daughter and being able to help her grow and develop, and enjoy her experiences throughout her time with me- She's a pleasure to have in my setting, 'F' is very friendly to the other peers and loves to please you and thrives on praise and encouragement. So please she will continue throughout your maternity leave, so we can have more adventures together.
Our son loved staying with Sue, always talking about all the friends he has there and what they did together. I highly recommend her childcare. She offers different activities they do each week, takes children for walks, and to parks, playgroups, etc. Each little outing allows fun and learning in the process. Be it exploring wild life in the heathland or fish in the pond. The activities are varied to suit all ages. Sue really cares about the children she looks after and their development. She is promoting independance but helping when they are struggling, always striving to help them reach their next steps/goals. Tigger Tots 2 teens is a fantastic place for children and anyone looking to place their child with a childminder must see Sue.

Thank you Agnieszka for the positive review- I will greatly miss caring for your son. He had settled so well at the short time of attending 'Tiggertails'- and I was hoping to have continued his journey in learning and achieving his milestones throughout his vital year before starting school- he has an amazing character and was popular with his peers on role- Hopefully when the Government Guidelines extend children sharing settings, he may return to us to continue his learning journey.
Sue provides excellent care for my 2 year old son and has done for the last year or so. She takes great care to address his social needs and play with the other children. She also makes sure his educational needs are met and this is all tracked and signed off in accordance with early years education. Her care really is first rate and she is somewhat like a grandmother making sure our son is well cared for and his need are met. She givers detailed regular feedback via a daily journal with loads of pictures and also vocal feedback at the end of each day. Her communication is excellent and will call starlight away if she has any concerns she is also very flexible many times i have been held up and she is more than willing to extend childcare until i can get there. Needless to say as soon as we decide to get child care for our newborn daughter she will be cared for by Sue. I wholeheartedly recommend Sue for anyone looking for excellent childcare she is first rate and her prices are very reasaonable.

Thank you very much for your kind report
I have certainly enjoyed my time caring for your son over the last year..
He is very affectionate and has a warming character and I miss him very much already
Regards sue
My daughter has been going to Sue since she was 9months old and she is nearly 6. She creates a home from home environment for the children and really encourages learning and development at all stages. Sue is very flexible and is very respectful of my wishes as a parent. She is warm, caring and enthusiastic towards the children. My daughter is so happy and really looks forward to her time spent with Sue. I love that during holidays Sue ensures the children get to explore, play and have fun with lots of days out. She is very good at understanding how the children are developing and has always encouraged our daughter to grow in every way. In addition, she has always supported me as a parent, offered advice and encouragement along the way. Sue really has become part of my daughters family and we are very grateful to have such a fab childminder.

Love watching her flourish and grow into a very confident independent individual, and has developed her characteristics of learning in every area possible- Her happy smiley personality making special friendships within the setting, I think will be lasting friendships for life. Love her enthusiasm every day for her zest in Life.
