About Me

Ofsted Good Provider Logo

I'm Sue McMennum, an Independent Ofsted Registered Childminder.-
My Ofsted Inspection was in January 2017 and Graded A GOOD-my practice has been graded GOOD through-out previous years
I have First Aid Training/Policies, Safeguarding & Child Protection training/ Policies, An Inclusion Policy, Send ( special educational Needs and Disabilities) training / policies, A Sickness and medical policy, Behaviour Policy, Covid secure policy, and many more...
I have Public Liability Insurance, Business Car Insurance, Business Home Insurance.

I’m married and live in Branksome Poole, with my Husband and two cats, we have two adult sons, .
I thoroughly enjoy caring for all of the children and find this to be very rewarding and fulfilling to see the children grow and develop and achieve their milestones in their most important early years. I offer a professional, yet friendly approach, with fun, laughter, and loving care, in a HOME from HOME environment. I treat everyone as individuals with equality and diversity. I have currently been working with Learning Journals and Trackers for every child 0-4 yrs recording Observations, Development stages, and achievements- Including Captured Moments, which provide leads for ‘next steps’ opportunities planning to support and explore the wider world and experiences towards their next stage of development..
The new birth to five development matters/ and new EYFS is now in force started from September 21 for which I am working with to support your child's education, I am making some changes with reducing paperwork and daily dairies/learning journals, so their will be more time spent interacting with the children in play which is essential for children's learning - explore visits, and encourage own interests and learning opportunities.
I am accredited, to offer a flexible choice to parents for Government Funding for Early Education. This can be over a stretched period through out the year, up to 30 hrs per week term time only / or the equivalent 1140 hrs throughout a stretched years allowance, as maximum entitlement per family. This is offered, via a voluntary contribution for ( additional services private costings) against free funded childcare hours -to cover vital resources, consumables, and outings etc, as the Government funding covers basic EDUCATION AND CARE ONLY - These opportunities are essentially important for developing social, emotional, communication, language, literacy, physical development and extending cultural capital experiences of the wider world for all 3 & 4 year old's to learn to their full potential gaining an education in readiness for starting main stream school.
I offer a Local SEND code of practice-please go onto/ to view my SEND policy: ( I have had experiences with Cleft Palette, Asperger's, Diabetes, hearing, speech & language disabilities, Asthma and skin allergies)
Please supply:
Cold/Hot Lunches via lunch boxes please- Dinners can be heated if required.
Please also provide any snacks ( preferably fruit or veg sticks) you may wish your child to have during the day ( not chocolate, sweets or juice ) as I am working to promote healthy eating which is essential towards the development of your child and to protect from obesity in the future years.
I will provide Breakfast cereals and fruit for Early Bird bookings!
It is good hygiene practice to provide a tooth brush for your child to keep here, so after meals they can clean their teeth ( this promotes good oral hygiene)

BEFORE COVID -19 We visit parks, Farms, Monkey World, Farmer Palmer's, The Tank Museum - Play area’s, nature walks, indoor soft play, Beach explore and paddle, crazy golf, Toddler Groups, Children Centre drop-in’s, Book & Toy Libraries. ) AS LOCK DOWN relaxes- this is gradually re-introduced in a different measure, and is vital to their learning experiences of the wider world extending Culture Capital opportunities. I also offer arts and crafts, messy play, dressing up, home corner, music and rhyme, cooking, computer education/games, reading and writing opportunities - Outside play, Sand play- water play, balance bikes and push- a- longs, team games including ball games, experiments, exploring/ gardening. ( IF NEW LOCK-DOWN MEASURES ARE INTRODUCED THROUGHOUT THE ONGOING FUTURE - NEW RESTRICTIONS WILL APPLY ACCORDINGLY)

I have built up my Childminding Practice as a family environment, as changes were required with new regulations, I have become more structured with educational requirements to prepare children in readiness for school and to become confident happy individuals. I offer flexible contracts to suit individual needs. I offer before and after school care at (set fees), School holiday cover, Full time and part time placements- flexi- shifts/Teachers term time placements from a higher hourly fee, to compensate for long holiday gaps- Additional requests for an early start from 7.45 am -. Additional fees are require to hold a placement after 5 pm per evening if you require later childcare.- I'm open all year round with a view of taking 4/ 5 weeks annual Holiday per year-UNPAID- .this may include a 'Closure day' for attending a Training Course. This will reflect in future Terms and Fees including Bank Holidays: of which I am not open.
I charge full fees throughout your Annual Holidays, Bank Holidays and Sickness- My own annual holidays ( not chargeable) are booked around my own family commitments- ( it is advisable to have some emergency back-up plan to support your personal needs when I'm on leave) with a majority of families on role, it's not viable to work around your requirements of leave.

Since the changes with COVID -19 we have been working with a COVID Risk policy
I have adapted my SICKNESS POLICY to all families on role:- The original SICKNESS POLICY stands with other illnesses- (THERE IS A COVID SECURE POLICY WITH TERMS RELATING TO THIS)
. I have a COVID-19 RISK ASSESSMENT that explains how I intend to keep families safe, how I expect to operate with Safeguarding the children as my main priority- and how I encourage parents/families to cooperate with Safeguarding the ' Setting' and work with me as a partnership to eliminate possible new cases that could develop, by being vigilant and isolate as a family if a possible case is apparent with taking PCR tests, regardless of having both COVID vaccinations- young children can be carriers but not show symptoms themselves. .
I am having regular lateral flow tests - so I'm confident I am protecting families as much as possible from coronavirus. I have had both Covid Vaccines up to date -Please follow the latest Government guidelines for attending a childcare care setting- and discussing it with me before bringing your child to the setting.
As a child care setting- we have had to make changes on how we operate - door step dropping off/collection and wearing face masks if you are handing over a babe in arms - there are Individual boxes for your child's possessions to go in-available by the entrance door - A separate change of play clothes to change into when returning from the school environment, I will continue to keep these procedures in place. Viewings will only be arranged for an available vacancy of a childcare placement - First initial viewing will take place via video call-and second viewing will take place after close of setting hours from 5.30 pm on a week day evening due to safeguarding the children on role. Further viewings to see the setting open will be discussed if you show interest on using the childcare. If LOCKDOWN is in operation then initially a video interview will take place only to safeguard both parties. (Children will not be exposed to potential new clientele entering the setting) The Government Guidelines have up to date changes if anyone needs to refer to rules of COVID.

Our son loved staying with Sue, always talking about all the friends he has there and what they did together. I highly recommend her childcare. She offers different activities they do each week, takes children for walks, and to parks, playgroups, etc. Each little outing allows fun and learning in the process. Be it exploring wild life in the heathland or fish in the pond. The activities are varied to suit all ages. Sue really cares about the children she looks after and their development. She is promoting independance but helping when they are struggling, always striving to help them reach their next steps/goals. Tigger Tots 2 teens is a fantastic place for children and anyone looking to place their child with a childminder must see Sue.

Thank you Agnieszka for the positive review- I will greatly miss caring for your son. He had settled so well at the short time of attending 'Tiggertails'- and I was hoping to have continued his journey in learning and achieving his milestones throughout his vital year before starting school- he has an amazing character and was popular with his peers on role- Hopefully when the Government Guidelines extend children sharing settings, he may return to us to continue his learning journey.

Sue provides excellent care for my 2 year old son and has done for the last year or so. She takes great care to address his social needs and play with the other children. She also makes sure his educational needs are met and this is all tracked and signed off in accordance with early years education. Her care really is first rate and she is somewhat like a grandmother making sure our son is well cared for and his need are met. She givers detailed regular feedback via a daily journal with loads of pictures and also vocal feedback at the end of each day. Her communication is excellent and will call starlight away if she has any concerns she is also very flexible many times i have been held up and she is more than willing to extend childcare until i can get there. Needless to say as soon as we decide to get child care for our newborn daughter she will be cared for by Sue. I wholeheartedly recommend Sue for anyone looking for excellent childcare she is first rate and her prices are very reasaonable.

Thank you very much for your kind report
I have certainly enjoyed my time caring for your son over the last year..
He is very affectionate and has a warming character and I miss him very much already
Regards sue

My daughter has been going to Sue since she was 9months old and she is nearly 6. She creates a home from home environment for the children and really encourages learning and development at all stages. Sue is very flexible and is very respectful of my wishes as a parent. She is warm, caring and enthusiastic towards the children. My daughter is so happy and really looks forward to her time spent with Sue. I love that during holidays Sue ensures the children get to explore, play and have fun with lots of days out. She is very good at understanding how the children are developing and has always encouraged our daughter to grow in every way. In addition, she has always supported me as a parent, offered advice and encouragement along the way. Sue really has become part of my daughters family and we are very grateful to have such a fab childminder.

It's been a great pleasure to have had the opportunity of caring for your Daughter over the last 5 years- and hopefully still many more to go !!
Love watching her flourish and grow into a very confident independent individual, and has developed her characteristics of learning in every area possible- Her happy smiley personality making special friendships within the setting, I think will be lasting friendships for life. Love her enthusiasm every day for her zest in Life.

My son has been going to Sue since he was 10 months old, he has just turned 5. It’s safe to say he absolutely adores her. Sue encourages him to learn and be creative through a variety of methods such as messy play, dressing up and role play and is always out and about taking the children to the beach, park or other places like Moors Valley. I wouldn’t want my son to go anywhere else. Sue also does the school run too. My son has made some very good friends at Sues house and he is always happy when I pick him up (although often fairly tired from all that playing!)
