I AM OPEN TO KEY WORKERS TO OFFER EMERGENCY, TEMPORARY AND LONG TERM CONTRACTS. PLEASE MESSAGE ME ON -childcare.co.uk for further details. Discounted rates for all key workers.
I am a mother of two children who are 21 (DBS cleared) and 16 years old, both of my children are very good with and mix well with other children. Before I began working as a childminder I worked at Dixon's technology college preparing meals in the kitchen. Even though I like to cook a lot of varied meals and healthy, homemade meals I also let the children I care for have treats. We have things like chicken dippers, nuggets and smiley face waffles as I feel that children need to have fun foods too. Good quality options of these foods are sourced to make sure they are trying fun but healthy options. I involve children in making and choosing meal options as much as possible in age safe and appropriate activities to develop their confidence and independence skills. I provide daily information for parents (pre school children) concerning details such as nappy changes, meals, allergens, food groups, how much they have eaten and drank each day plus times of sleep and activities they have enjoyed.
I provide fun, stimulating activities for the children in my care but my overall view is to make sure all the children's play is base around them having fun. My setting has a designated play room and sleeping room (both have cameras to monitor children constantly), allowing children to rest and play in equal measure. The play room offers a direct flow to the back garden so whenever the weather is suitable, garden play can be enjoyed. I stress that children are not allowed independent access to the garden, as the free-flow play for preschool is always fully supervised by myself. Once a day full time children will access the garden or enjoy and outdoor activity such as a walk, library visit or play gym visit.
If you look at my photo above I and my husband have put a lot of effort into my setting to make sure it is an enjoyable place for children to play and learn. At present due to the high winds (04/03/20) and snow these toys have been packed away to avoid damage.
The top section which is paved and has a sandpit and water play area, chalk boards, wipe boards and sitting area to eat outdoors, enjoy small world play or drawing. The bottom section is astroturf and decking with chairs and seating to allow for free play.
Indoor activities can be enjoyed outdoors when the weather is suitable for home corner play, small world play, board games, jigsaws, Magna doodles, role play clothes, painting, drawing, coloring, reading and building blocks.
All these elements have been put into place to help the children learn whilst at play; along with my philosophy of lots of small steps to equal the larger milestones. All learning is based through making links between the new knowledge and the understanding of how to use this knowledge. There is lots of labelling, modelling and repartition; not of the same activities but of key themes. For example colours, a set of colours would be chosen, most likely following the child's interests. These would be repeated until the little one can repeat and label the colours, then I would move on to a new set of colours. There will be a blend of focused (specially designed with an aimed learning result) and incidental (observing a potential learning goal and in the moment using the present play theme to support the child's learning) activities. Free play is a large part of each child's day, all toys suitable for their age are accessible to play with.
I have worked as an ofsted registered childminder for over thirteen years and I am based in Wibsey. I love my job, it is the best job you can have working with children, they are so comical and funny. You also have the huge sense of achievement when a child is happy at your setting and enjoys being here. I have completed all the relevant courses and exams need to become a childminder. I also have undertaken courses in food hygiene and healthy eating and I have just passed the Early years degree (Ba Hons) 2.1. I have excellent references from parents, past and present and provide a warm, caring environment for the children to enjoy.
We also have just had fitted a downstairs toilet for ease of potty training and so full time pre-school children can brush their teeth whilst at my setting to practice good dental hygiene. Tooth brushes and age appropriate toothpaste should be provided by parents.
We have just completed a loft conversion which has allowed us to turn our small bedroom into a sleeping and changing room for the children in my care, allowing them to have the sleep time they need, undisturbed. All spare clothes, nappies and accessories are all stored here too.
When vacancies are available I am eligible to provide early years funding for 2-3 and 3-4 year old.
Please ignore the response time frame, I often reply to parents directly via my phone which is not always acknowledged through the childcare.co.uk system. I always replay to parents, even if I cannot support their needs, I let them know through the messaging system or via the number they have shared with me in communications.
I have completed all the necessary exams to become a childminder and renew these when the period expires. I am always looking at new courses to see what is valid to my practice and to improve my practice. Any parent is welcome to give me a ring and I will prepare a welcome pack which gives you extra details about "Me as your childminder", policies relevant to my setting and lots of other details about the care I will provide your child.

My girls (Age 6 & 1) have been going to Alison’s for the last 7 months and absolutely love it!
Choosing a childcare setting when going back to work after maternity leave felt like an impossible task, I was nervous, scared and dreading going back to work!
From the first contact with Alison she put my mind at ease, she spent time getting to know my girls before they started and made the transition into her setting smooth and problem free, the girls settled straight away and I returned to work knowing my girls were happy, safe and very well looked after.
Over recent months Alison has continued to amaze us, she really does go above and beyond for the children in her care.
My girls always come home happy and full of stores of all the fun things they have done! From the fantastic activities and wonderful creations they make to the wildlife spotting in the woods.
We are always kept up to date - the level of communication from Alison is excellent, not only do we receive daily updates regarding the children but Alison makes sure we are kept updated and informed about policies/procedures and changes to legislation.
As parents we truly could not ask for more, I can not rate Alison highly enough
Our little boy attended Alison from the age of 1 right up till school, she is absolutely brill, there was only one place our daughter was going to attend when she came along and has now been with Alison for almost a year and settled very quickly.
Never let us down in 5 years highly recommend
I have recently placed my daughter Edith in Alison's childcare setting. Edith goes in school holidays and always looks forward to going. Alison is very professional and always keeps in contact. Alison sends me pictures of what Edith is doing and always explains the activities to me. Alison always keeps me up to date with polices and procedures also and I feel has a great communication with me as a parent. Edith has so much fun when she goes and I would absolutely recommend her as a childminder and caregiver xx
Alison is amazing my little girl loves going too her. As soon as we pull up outside the house she is all giddy, Alison makes sure Hollie eats a different range off foods. I would definitely recommend.
My little boy currently attends Alison's setting and in the 6 months that he has attended so far we have been over the moon with the care he has received.
We originally had him in the care of a very good rated nursery but this only lasted a week as although these places are rated fantastic the attention to detail and overall care we found to pale into insignificance compared to Alison.
We was so lucky that we found Alison and knew right from our first meeting that she really is something special.
Her setting is fantastic and our little man settled from day 1, we get regular updates and pictures of him having so much fun with the other children in Alison's care the level of detail we get on his day is superb.
We couldn't recommend Alison enough to anyone looking for the perfect child-minder.
