We are known as little Stars childcare in cheddleton. Our personal goal is to provide a loving and educational foundation for children and persons in our care.
Welcome to our new Little Stars Childcare setting.
Little stars was established in January 2014 when I (Laura Hanson) worked as a childminder from my home. I then followed my dream to open a nursery, alongside my business partner and co- owner Jo Yorke. in June 2018 we opened our first nursery setting at the local community centre and in May 2019 we opened our new setting based on Cheadle road cheddleton. We also run 3 groups at St Andrew's church hall cheddleton, A baby group, a sensory group and a language and communication group.

Baby room, on the ground floor.
We have a calming, light and beautiful baby room, with space each day for six babies from ages birth to 18 months.
We have created a tranquil environment offering a flexible daily routine for each individual child. The lights have been installed to create a calming atmosphere which can be dimmed or turned of during sleep time to ensure a relaxing area to sleep or rest.
The baby room has it's own changing area right next to the room and also has the kitchen next door for easy access to prepare food or bottles.
We have a soft carpet area for the babies to explore in comfort and also flooring where they can explore messy play activities and an area to sit at the table for meal times. Meal times are a un-hurried social occasion to gain new skills, taste new foods, socialise with their baby friends and have special one to one times with their carers or key person.
The babies will access their outdoor area which has been developed in may 2020 we also have lots of opportunities to go for walks, visit local groups, go on day trips and also visit our allotment area, located very close to our setting.
Toddler room on the ground floor.
We have a separate pavilion set in our outside area for our under 2s, we offer places for think 2 funding, we have 2 staff working with this age group. The toddlers can free flow from inside to outside easily, we have a large floor space for them with items that are accessible to the children on a child friendly level. the children can have child choice, We focus on their specific areas, language & communication, personal, social.and emotional.as well as their physical skills. The children have fresh cooked meals each day, we support table manners staff encourage this by eating with the children and sitting with them during meals times. The children have their own beds, and their own sleep bags, which contain their bed sheet and blanket. These are washed daily. We complete lots of sensory based activities for the children to explore.
We make use of our surroundings by going on walks, around the local area, we visit the shops museums etc.. as well as our allotment nearby.

We have converted the upstairs flat into a dedicated preschool, which can have 16 children, we currently have 5 staff working in the preschool as well as the before and after school club. In the holidays we run a holiday club for 3 to 9 years old.
We have plenty of room to move about. There is a craft room, a large room to play, a story area, role play, a stage with disco lights, the emphasis is on gaining independence for ourselves, such as practicing self care, fine and gross motor skills, setting tables for meals, dressing ourselves, We also follow the EYFS curriculum for our in the moment observations and planning. We work with the local school with the transitioning to school. We offer a dance class each week. We hope to access a forestry school setting once a week from Sept 2020. We love to go on local transport to the local town to visit the museums, art gallerys, library's, parks, in the school holidays the nursery goes out as a whole to visit areas of interest. Like Cannock chase gruffalo trail. Carsington waters, National adventure farm, derby parks, and at christmas we visit a farm to see Santa and his reindeer.
