About Me

My name is Charlotte Shayne, and I’m a proud mum to three wonderful daughters — Mia, aged 13, Rosie, aged 5, and Sophie, aged 2. I am a fully certified, Ofsted-registered childminder, with a genuine passion for supporting children as they learn, develop and discover the world around them.

I am very proud that my most recent Ofsted inspection rated my provision Good in every area:

My aim is to provide a nurturing, welcoming and stimulating home-from-home environment where every child is valued as an individual. I want children to feel comfortable enough to be themselves, confident enough to explore and curious enough to learn through the things that interest them most.

My home is spacious and thoughtfully arranged with a wide variety of age-appropriate toys, books, sensory resources, creative activities and learning opportunities for children from infancy through to school age. I follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and use children’s individual interests, experiences and developmental needs to inspire the activities and opportunities I provide.

Outdoor play and learning are a big part of our days. We regularly spend time in the garden enjoying messy play, imaginative play, physical activities and opportunities to explore nature. We are also fortunate to have lots to discover within our local community. With parental permission, our days may include trips to local parks, canal walks to see and feed the ducks, toddler and childminding groups, shops, libraries and other local attractions and experiences. I believe some of the best learning happens when children are able to experience the world first-hand.

Our family also includes two friendly pets. Kitty, our much-loved cat, has been part of our family for over 13 years and is calm and affectionate around children. Frankie, our six-year-old Frug (French Bulldog × Pug), has grown up around my daughters and is a loving and playful member of the family. Children are always carefully supervised around our pets, and appropriate hygiene and safety measures are followed.

As both a childminder and a parent myself, I understand the trust involved in leaving your child in somebody else’s care. Your child’s safety, happiness, emotional wellbeing and development will always be at the heart of what I do. I aim to work closely with parents and carers so that we can provide consistency between home and my setting and celebrate all of the wonderful milestones along the way.
