About Me
My name is Victoria McAllister (Poppykins Daycare) and I have been a Registered Childminder since 2007. I have recently moved to Llanharan, Pontyclun from Church Village, Pontypridd and offer a pick up and drop off service in Church Village and the surrounding area as my children attend Bryncelynnog Comprehensive. I live with my daughter, son, our two cats and two Springer Spaniels.
My Experience
I am registered with CIW to care for six children under 12 years old.
I am a member of PACEY and am a Flying Start Provider.
I provide a happy, secure, safe, friendly, warm and caring home environment, which allows boys and girls to develop and learn about the world through the medium of play developing at their own pace to become confident and caring individuals.
My Qualifications
I am a qualified Nursery Nurse and regularly attend training through Kinderly and RCT Children Services. I have also completed the Level 3 Award Transition to Playwork qualification.
Prior to childcare I worked in the catering industry and have a HND in Hospitality Management and a BA (Hons) Hotel Management degree. I have also been a Teaching Assistant at a local school for a year.
My Availability
Due to children starting school, I currently have availability Monday & Tuesday for three daytime children and for one child on Thursday & Friday. I am also available to work weekends and offer a babysitting service. If you would like to discuss your requirements further, please make contact. My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
- Babysitting from £9.00 per hour
Please contact me for the current fees as I offer a daily rate which includes all meals, snacks, outings, nappies, wipes, outdoor clothing, outdoor clothing and wellies, logo t-shirts & jumpers.

We really did strike gold having such a caring, attentive and highly experienced childminder in our area. Victoria has been nothing short of truly amazing. We really couldn’t have wished for a better childminder for our son.
Our son has thrived in Victoria’s care. From a late walker & late talker Victoria has giving him the time, patience and care he needed to become a heartwarming chatterbox who loves to walk, run, ride, jump everywhere and anywhere.
Victoria and the children are always out on daily walks/trips exploring the woods, streams, beaches, play centres, music classes - This is a childs dream day. When we show family members the pictures from the diaries Victoria provides of what our son has been up to that day they are always amazed at the effort Victoria puts in.
The setting is set up with great pride and planning. Not only does our son have so much fun playing but the educational aspect to Victoria’s daily planning is perfect. Story time, singing, counting, shapes, colours, welsh language. He amazes us everytime he returns from a day with Victoria.
Victoria also provides a high level of nutritional food so I know our son is going to be fed well and fuelled for the days activities. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, drinks & snacks. Also things such as nappies & outerwear. We pack our son off for the day with a few changes of clothes knowing he is going to be cared for, fed, entertained and have the best day ever.
I really couldn’t recommend Victoria enough. We really do owe her alot.

Our daughter came to Victoria in December as a shy little girl who had barely interacted with people outside of us for most of her life due to the various lockdowns, and after a difficult intro process with another childminder that my daughter did not take to at all. It was the exact opposite with Victoria - it didn’t take long until she became comfortable with Victoria and I’d now describe my shy little girl as a social butterfly, waving at strangers in the street. At the start, due to the distress our daughter had been in at the previous childminder, Victoria asked us to provide some family photos and then she created a beautiful book that our daughter could look at if she was ever feeling anxious. We were astounded with the care and attention provided. We can’t thank Victoria enough for reversing the effects that the pandemic left.
There are few days when our daughter is not out in the fresh air, exploring parks, woodlands, and beaches, as well as water & sand play. Our daughter climbs tree trunks, builds sandcastles, splashes in streams and all sorts.
I’d describe Victoria’s approach as Montessori and her play space is filled with age appropriate toys - largely wooden - and including things to build confidence and body awareness such as a pickler triangle and a climbing arch. She incorporates Welsh and Makaton (children’s sign language), which was great as we did a small amount of makaton already so my daughter was able to communicate her needs with ease.
We receive regular updates and pictures which was hugely reassuring at the beginning to be able to see our daughter so happy and now it’s just wonderful to see what she gets up to. The activities are constantly rotated and varied so my daughter has no chance to get bored. Family members who have seen pictures of her daily activities have commented on what a great childminder we have and that if they lived in our area they would use her too.
Victoria provides healthy homely meals & snacks, and kindly caters to our daughters long list of allergies without it seeming to be of any inconvenience at all.
Victoria is warm, caring, hugely knowledgeable, and we are beyond thankful that we found her. She clearly loves the children in her care & her job, and puts her whole heart into it. We would recommend her to the moon and back, and then some.
