About Me

Hi, I am an experienced, well qualified nanny who is a middle aged young at heart mother of an adult son, living in the heart of Lymington. Ideally I an looking for a nanny job two days a week on Tuesday and Wednesday. I am also very happy to work the occasional Friday, weekend and evenings if organised in advance. On Monday and Thursday I work in a shop and have very little flexibility to work on these days but I could do after school pick up it if was after 5pm. I have a friend who is available to job share with me if you require more days.

For the past four years I have taken care of two children who are now at an age where now they do not need a nanny, sadly. It has been a wonderful experience and the children have grown in confidence and matured into really outgoing positive young people. In this role I tended to organise and plan my days with the children myself (except for when they had other plans), I do not need to be told what to do, I loved it when they had friends over and the kids often gave them the choice of what they wanted to do. We would cook, do pottery, art, sewing or be just be outdoors at the beach, park or going for a walk also I'm a pretty competitive board game player.

I am a great believer in encouraging children to use their initiative and figure out how to do things for themselves (this is probably because of my Montessori training), it builds their self esteem and I never underestimate what kids are capable of. I have a big sense of humour, creative mind and really love to cook. I have heaps of experience working with children, of all ages over many years and love watching them grow and develop their own personalities and characters.

When raising children, I feel the most important factor is trust, from the children, the family and from myself too. I love the outdoors and animals and would endeavour to take the children out for fresh air each day (I have one old dog) so love walking, sailing, going to the beach and making the most of the fabulous location we live in. I am also very creative and really enjoy doing activities making thing with with the children (this was the best part of being a teaching assistant, I felt). I have an allotment and grow lots of vegetables and would love to do gardening with the kids too. I believe having a sense of humour is something children really appreciate, but I am straight forward and an independent thinker and children find me easy to get! I am a great cook and would be happy to cook for the family and with the children too. For 6 years I helped teach children to sail with a local yacht club, I love animals and horse ride pretty well and used to ski.

When I was a teaching assistant in Reception and Year 2, it taught me all about Phonics and the school curriculum and I am happy to help with homework etc. and my field of expertise is dyslexia, which I have a great deal of experience working with.

Please feel free to contact me to discuss any questions you may have and I will be delighted to answer them.

My Experience

Prior to being a nanny, I worked as a supply Teaching Assistant at local Primary Schools and spent three years working as a full time teaching assistant in KS1, with all the year groups from Reception Class through to Year 2.

In my youth and adulthood I have regularly worked as a nanny and in my late 20's I was registered at a child-minder with the local authority in SW London. I cared for up to 3 children from the ages of 9 months to 4 years old, for 3.5 years and sadly gave it up due to relocation to the country but this inspired me to gain my Montessori qualification.

When I moved to Lymington, I spent a couple of years driving a local private primary school bus, which was great fun. I have a Montessori Pedagogy (childcare) Certificate and also have a Teaching Assistants Qualification; these have taught me the importance of the safety and welfare of children as well as discretion and confidentiality.

I am happy to provide certificates of my qualifications and a number of references when required. I also have and up to date DBS certificate.

Foundation Certificate Level 2 in Montessori Pedagogy (childcare).
