About Me

Hello, my name is Emma, and I am a fully qualified Ofsted-registered childminder based in the Archer Park area of Middleton. I live with my partner Stephen and our friendly young dog in a warm, welcoming family home.

I provide a safe, nurturing, and enriching “home from home” environment, where every child feels valued, supported, and encouraged to thrive. My setting follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), with a strong emphasis on high-quality care, early education, outdoor learning, and meeting each child’s individual needs.

My Setting

My home is carefully set up to support children’s learning and development, with a wide range of quality, age-appropriate resources that encourage exploration, creativity, and independence.

We also have a dedicated outdoor play space, including:
• Age appropriate, climbing and balancing equipment
• Mud kitchen
• Sand and water play
• Outdoor learning and role-play equipment

This allows children to enjoy fresh air, physical activity, and hands-on learning every day.

Outdoor Learning & Local Adventures

Outdoor play is central to my practice, and we are lucky to be surrounded by wonderful natural spaces:
• 2-minute walk through a wooded path to the local park and playing fields
• 5-minute walk to nearby woods and river
• Weekly forest school-style sessions
• Regular visits to lakes, woods, and nature areas
• Weekly visits to other local playgrounds

These experiences help children build confidence, resilience, curiosity, and a love of nature.

Community & Enrichment Activities

I regularly organise outings to support children’s social, emotional, and physical development, including:
• Local libraries
• Gym and movement sessions
• Soft play centres
• Child-friendly museums

These trips broaden children’s experiences and support learning in fun and meaningful ways.

About My Family

I am a proud mum to my 21 year old son, who is currently working in Australia for 12 months.

We also share care of Stephen’s children, aged 10 and 11, who live with us part-time. Being part of a caring family environment helps children feel secure and included.

All immediate family members over 16 hold enhanced DBS certificates.

Small Group Care & Social Development

Children in my care are supported within small groups of similar-aged children, allowing for personalised attention and strong relationships.

I also work closely with another local childminder, giving children opportunities to:
• Play and learn in larger groups
• Build friendships
• Interact confidently with other adults
• Prepare for nursery and school environments

This balance supports both emotional security and social development.
