My Summary
About Me
Welcome to Am-Am’s House
Am-Am’s House is a trusted childminding service established in December 2013, dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and enriching environment for children to grow and thrive. Based in a warm, home-from-home setting, we offer high-quality early years care that blends structure, creativity, and compassion.
We are proud to operate as a maximum capacity childminding setting—the largest we can be while still maintaining the personal touch of a home-based environment, without becoming a nursery. This allows us to provide the very best of both worlds: the warmth and familiarity of a family home, alongside the structure, resources, and staffing of a high-quality early years setting.
We are open Monday to Friday from 7:30am to 5:30pm, offering hours to support working families and provide a consistent, reliable routine for the children in our care.
At Am-Am’s House, children benefit from a setting that feels like home—with all the professionalism, dedication, and passion of an outstanding early years team.
?
Our Ethos & Values
At Am-Am’s House, every child is celebrated as an individual. We pride ourselves on nurturing curiosity, building confidence, and encouraging positive social development through play, exploration, and gentle guidance. With a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusion, our setting reflects a real-world community where all children and families feel welcomed and valued.
Backed by years of experience and a heartfelt commitment to early childhood education, Am-Am’s House is more than just childcare—it’s a place where little lives are cherished, and big futures begin.

Meet the Big Hearts Behind Am-Am’s House
We’re a team of six dedicated ladies who pour love, care, and joy into everything we do.
?
Meet Am-Am (Roxanne)
I’m Am-Am, the founder and a big heart of Am-Am’s House. I’m a proud mum to two wonderful children—Jordan (17) and Maicie (15)—as well as a stepmum to another Jordan (23). I’m also a devoted dog mum to Rosie, our beloved 6-year-old labradoodle, who’s adored by all the children here!
I’ve been happily married to Kiel for eight years. He’s not only my partner in life but also a registered assistant at Am-Am’s House, ready to step in whenever needed. He is my biggest cheerleader and always there to support me.
?
Why “Am-Am”?
That’s a question I get asked a lot by new families!
The name Am-Am has a special place in my heart—and it all began 25 years ago when I became an auntie for the first time. My nephew Lewis couldn’t quite manage Roxanne, so he lovingly called me Pan-Pan. That name stuck for a while, until my niece Grace came along four years later and gave me a new name—Am-Am.
Fast forward to 2015, when my niece Charlie and her mummy Tessie were working with me. As Charlie began to talk, she called me Am-Am, just like Grace had. Soon, all the little ones in my care started calling me Am-Am too—and from that moment on, it’s never left.
It’s more than just a nickname—it’s a name full of love, memories, and the very roots of what Am-Am’s House is all about.
?
Our Setting
Kiel, Jordan, Maicie, Rosie, and I live in what the children lovingly call Am-Am’s Big House. It’s completely separate from Am-Am’s House. To get to Am-Am’s House, you head down the left side of our home—tucked around the back, you’ll find a fully converted tandem garage that’s been transformed into a magical childcare space. It’s fully equipped with everything we need, including our own kitchen and toilet. Just next to that is our newest addition—a cosy cabin, designed as a calm and peaceful space, mainly used for nap times.
?
Our Vision
At the heart of Am-Am’s House is a simple, powerful ethos: to surround children with love, cuddles, and the warmth of a positive family influence. My vision has always been to give children real-world experiences and joyful learning before their school days begin. I often say, “Why read about buses, trains, and planes when we can go and see them?”—and that really is what we live by.
My incredible team and I are more than just Early Years Educators—we’re a family. And together, we wrap our arms and hearts around every single child who becomes part of Am-Am’s House—not forgetting their parents too!
?
Meet Heather (Heba)
Heather—known by the children as Heba—where do I even begin? She’s not only my best friend in life but truly my right arm here at Am-Am’s House. Heather is one of the biggest hearts of our setting and has been a core part of our team since 2019. Since then, she’s been showering every child—and their parents too—with love, care, and creativity.
She’s known for her incredible imagination—her storytelling is legendary, and trust me, it’s something special! Heather brings a wealth of experience from across the childcare world, including roles as an au pair, nursery nurse, and working in schools.
She’s also Mummy to little Daisy—our youngest assistant—who’s almost 2 and a cherished part of Am-Am’s House. Each morning, Daisy welcomes her little friends with cuddles, setting the tone for a day full of love and warmth.
Heather is an OFSTED-registered childminder in her own right, working alongside me to help lead Am-Am’s House with experience and care.
?
Our Wonderful Assistants
Supporting us is our amazing team of registered assistants: Jen, Steph, Matilda, and Diane—each one bringing their own warmth, energy, and dedication to our little family. And of course, we can’t forget Kiel, who’s always ready to step in and lend a hand whenever we need him!
?
Meet Diane
Diane is my amazing mum and has been by my side since the very beginning of Am-Am’s House. She became my very first assistant back in 2014 and has supported me every step of the way as I built this little dream into what it is today—and for that, I’m truly grateful.
She’s a familiar and much-loved face, especially among our school children, who get genuinely excited when it’s her day to walk them to school. With years of hands-on experience raising me and my four sisters—and now a whole bunch of grandchildren—Mum brings love, warmth, and wisdom to everything she does.
Although she officially retired at the end of December 2024, her retirement didn’t last long—just two weeks later, she asked if she could come back and volunteer for the school run once a week! She’s also known for her legendary toast-making skills—she can tell you each child’s favourite breakfast and exactly how they like their toast cut, right down to the shape!
?
Meet Jen-Jen
Jen-Jen—the sunshine of Am-Am’s House!
This lovely lady brings joy, laughter, and a heart as big as her smile to everything she does. Jen has been lighting up our days since she joined us in 2020, and she’s been adored by the children ever since.
She’s Mummy to Alfie, who’s now 10—and during school holidays, Alfie often joins us. The little ones absolutely look up to him, and he brings a lovely big-brother presence to our days.
Jen brings a wealth of experience in early years education, having worked as a Nursery Nurse across a variety of settings, including schools. Her calm nature, warm energy, and passion for children make her a treasured part of our Am-Am’s House family.
?
Meet Matilda
Matilda—the baby of our grown-up team and our wonderful apprentice!
Matilda might be the youngest adult in the setting, but she brings a big heart, boundless energy, and a sparkle that the children absolutely adore. She’s our number one hairdresser (you should see the pretend salon in action!) and always ready with a giggle and a cuddle.
She joined us in the summer of 2024 as an apprentice and has already become such a valued part of our Am-Am’s House family. With her fun-loving nature, kind soul, and natural connection with the children, we’re hoping she’ll be with us for many years to come!
?
Meet Steph
Steph—the newest member of our Am-Am’s House family!
Steph joined us in January 2025, and from the moment she walked through the door, we knew we’d found someone truly special. It felt like she was already part of the family—her values, warmth, and gentle nature were a perfect fit for everything Am-Am’s House stands for.
She has a huge heart, and the children absolutely adore her. Steph brings with her a wealth of experience in early years education. She began her career in nurseries before spending an incredible 19 years working in a school, primarily in their nursery setting.
Steph is also Mummy to Millie (10) and Josh (6), and her nurturing, understanding approach is deeply rooted in her experience both as an educator and as a parent. We feel so lucky to have found her, and we’re thrilled she’s now one of the hearts that help make Am-Am’s House so special.
?
Meet Kiel
Kiel is my husband and a huge support behind the scenes at Am-Am’s House. He’s a registered assistant and always ready to jump in when needed.
He has been by my side since the very beginning, encouraging every step of this journey. Kiel is my rock—the one who believes in me, who listens when I need to talk, and who always reminds me of how proud he is of me and of the dream I have built.
From fixing things around the setting to simply being his amazing self, Kiel may not be front and centre—but the love and support he gives is a huge part of what makes Am-Am’s House so special to me.
And while he may still be quietly mourning the loss of his man cave (which is now our beautiful childcare space), he never hesitated to give it up so I could follow my dream.
?
Meet Jordan
Alongside Kiel, my husband, Jordan is one of the behind-the-scenes heroes of Am-Am’s House. He’s always ready to step in as our handyman—helping turn my visions into reality, whether that’s building a mud kitchen, putting up a new fence, or helping construct our beautiful cabin!
Jordan is currently training as an apprentice joiner, and he puts his growing skills to great use around the setting. Together with Kiel, he helps bring all the little details of Am-Am’s House to life—making it a magical and safe space for the children we care for.
?
Meet Maicie
Maicie is my 15-year-old daughter and has been my little assistant from the very beginning—starting her journey at just 3 years old! Naturally loving and nurturing, she has wrapped her heart and arms around so many of the children we’ve cared for over the years.
Though she’s still at school, Maicie already offers a trusted babysitting service to many of our families. When she finishes school next year, she plans to officially join Am-Am’s House as an apprentice—although I suspect I’ll be her apprentice, as she already knows this job like the back of her hand! She’s often around, always happy to lend a hand, and she continues to be a much-loved part of the Am-Am’s House family.
?
Meet Rosie
Rosie is our incredible dog—a miniature labradoodle with a heart as big as her paws! She has a gentle, loving nature and an obvious soft spot for all the children at Am-Am’s House. Rosie is kind, calm, and adored by everyone who meets her.
She’s not always in the setting—she chooses when to come down—but when she does, you’ll hear the loudest cheer from the children shouting, “Rosie!” Her visits are always a highlight of the day, and she brings an extra dose of comfort and joy to our little family.
?
Qualifications & Training
Myself, Heather, Jen, and Steph all hold a Level 3 qualification in Early Years Education, while Matilda is currently working towards her Level 2 as part of her apprenticeship.
In 2023, I completed my Level 3 Assessor’s Course (CAVA), enabling me to support and mentor the apprentices we nurture here at Am-Am’s House—helping them grow in confidence and develop their skills in a real, loving childcare environment.
In 2024, Jen and I also completed the Early Years Professional Development Programme (EYPDP). This Department for Education-funded initiative is designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of early years practitioners, with the goal of improving practice and outcomes for children aged 2–4—particularly in areas facing the greatest disadvantages. We’re proud to be part of this effort to close the gap and provide high-quality, inclusive care for every child.
Every member of our team holds a full Paediatric First Aid qualification, renewed every three years. We are all trained in safeguarding and food hygiene, and we regularly engage in ongoing professional development to keep our knowledge fresh, relevant, and reflective of best practice.

Following the EYFS at Am-Am’s House
At Am-Am’s House, we proudly follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which sets the standards for learning, development, and care for children from birth to five years old. It provides the foundation for everything we do—ensuring each child receives high-quality, developmentally appropriate experiences in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment.
We use the EYFS to:
• Observe and understand each child’s unique interests and needs
• Plan engaging, play-based activities that promote learning through fun and discovery
• Support development across the seven key areas of learning: communication and language, physical development, personal, social and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design
• Track and celebrate progress while working in close partnership with parents to support their child’s journey
To help us do this effectively, we use Baby’s Days, a secure online platform that allows us to track progress and share important updates with parents in real time. Families can view their child’s daily routines, sleep, nappies, and learning journey—all from the comfort of their own home.
We also love capturing moments from each child’s day through photography. These snapshots help tell the story of their learning, friendships, and fun. To keep communication flowing and families involved, we use WhatsApp, where each child has a dedicated group chat with their parents and key team members. This allows us to share real-time updates, photos, messages, and little wins throughout the day, creating a genuine partnership between home and setting.
We believe in the power of real-world experiences, loving relationships, and consistent routines—all of which are central to the EYFS. Most importantly, we never lose sight of what makes childhood magical: play, wonder, cuddles, and joy.

Whether it’s through daily chats, shared photos, or WhatsApp updates, we’re always here to listen, share, and support.

Roxanne is truly a cut above the rest. The love, care and effort she puts in really shows, she treats all the children in her setting like her own. As does Heather. They are a great team and I hand on heart feel so at ease leaving my son in their care. Roxanne will go above and beyond for anyone in her care. Can’t rate her setting high enough!

Not only is Roxanne a lovely person, she is a fantastic childminder and provides a happy, safe, loving environment for the children she looks after. She puts her heart and soul into her job and it’s truly shows. My daughter has been going to Roxanne’s for 2 years now and my son is about to start with her. I wouldn’t send my children any where else. My daughter thoroughly enjoys going, and I can go to work with peace of mind knowing my children are being looked after by someone I completely trust.
