About Me

Limited number of term time only spaces available from September 2024!
Welcome to Lynne’s little explorers!
An Ofsted 'Outstanding' home from home setting in the WA11 area of St Helens. Led by a degree qualified and experienced early years professional with a passion for providing a more natural approach to children's care, play and exploration.

About the registered childminder:
My name is Lynne and I have worked with children for 30 years. My experience includes:
- private nursery settings with all ages and at all levels from Nursery Nurse to Nursery Manager. Additional roles have included health and safety officer, special needs coordinator, assessor of NVQ level 3 students and first aider in the workplace.
- as part of my 2 year Nursery Nurse qualification I gained experience within local primary schools and pre-school unit.
~ from 2006 onwards I have been a Ofsted registered Childminder providing high quality, professional childcare setting from my own family home.

Working with children is the path that I followed upon leaving school, now 3 decades on it is still my chosen vocation and is so much more than just a job. All this experience has really been invaluable and made me the true professional that I am today. Rest assured that your precious little explorers are in the safest of hands!

A little about our unique little setting:
* We are a true family-based setting which is unhurried, calm, cosy, loving and homely.
* We specialise in the care of early years children 4 years and under. Offering small group sizes to allow for quality interactions and tailored opportunities for learning.
* We are a Hygge in the Early Years Accredited setting - we focus on enhancing wellbeing, nature, slowing down and enjoying all those special little moments in our day.
* We are a nature-based setting - we offer daily opportunities to be outdoors all year round which brings positive benefits to our physical and mental wellbeing. Our approach ensures the wellbeing for our children and adults really is at the heart of everything that we do. We are extremely lucky to have many acres of woodlands that we can access directly from our doorstep.
* We are proud to be part of our local community when out and about on our adventures. We regularly meet up with other childminders outdoors to allow our children to play and socialise in a larger group which is a very special experience.
* Our curriculum offers a wide variety of rich experiences for our children. This has been developed by drawing on our knowledge of child development theories combined with 3 decades of childcare experience. We offer a child-led approach to education, inspiring curiosity and thinking.
* We are passionate about promoting independence and children engage in many practical life skills. We aim for our children to become life ready, not just school ready!
* We have a pet dog who is very much part of the family, and the children love their time spent with her (we do have a strict pet policy in place - sorry we will be unable to take children who have a fear of animals or whose parents stipulate they do not want their little ones to have direct contact with animals).
* We are passionate about being sustainable citizens and we consider the impact of everything that we do. We are more than happy to accommodate those parents who choose to use cloth nappies/wipes and have had ample experience of this.
* Our little explorer families are very much part of our setting. We like to develop positive relationships with all of them and keep them updated daily so that they feel they are not missing out on any part of their child’s experiences.

We feel it important to provide our children with a place where they feel relaxed, happy, valued and part of the little explorer's family. A place where childhood is full of joy, wonder and amazing memories are created. Here our little explorers are seen as unique, capable and competent individuals who are supported to reach their milestones in a natural and no-rushed way.

What does Ofsted say about our setting?
Our latest inspection was in MAY 2018 when we received an 'OUTSTANDING' in all areas grading,
Ofsted quotes:
This provision is OUTSTANDING

The childminder builds excellent partnerships with parents and has a comprehensive understanding of children's needs. She is astute in promoting children's confidence and self-esteem. Children settle extremely quickly into her care and form exceptional attachments with the childminder and their peers.

Children make rapid progress in their development. The childminder meticulously plans an extensive range of interesting and highly enjoyable activities to support children's continued development. She plans focused support to quickly close any gaps in children's learning and extend their development further. Children are extremely engaged in purposeful play and learning.

The childminder is exceptionally meticulous in sharing information with other settings that children attend. Children fully benefit from the outstanding continuous support they have between the settings. This helps their excellent ongoing achievements.

Teaching is consistently of a very high standard. The environment is welcoming for children and all areas are well planned. Children are highly motivated and interested. They freely access exciting and stimulating learning experiences.

Children have an excellent understanding of the local community. They relish the opportunity to visit the allotment and develop high levels of confidence in social situations.

My Experience

My little boy (20 months) has been with Lynne for 6 weeks now & the boost in his confidence in such a short space of time is amazing! He can’t talk yet & Lynne is working with me to help his speech which i’m so thankful for. He just loves going to Lynne & enjoys all the days out she takes them on! So much love, care & thought goes into her activities both inside & outside her setting & I’m so lucky i managed to secure my boy a place with Lynne ❤️

Lynne has been looking after my son since he was 17 months old. We are all genuinely upset that he has to leave to attend Reception Class as he is now 4 years old. Lynne is fantastic with the children, kind, patient and goes out of her way to ensure that both the children and parents are happy whilst in her care.
When my son first attended he was shy and very timid however since being with Lynne he has become a confident and happy little boy who absolutely adores Lynne and all children at her setting. He has made some strong relationships and we are all genuinely sad that he has to leave to attend school.
Lynne has provided so many great skills for my son and even helped me along the way. She has given us some fantastic advice, helped with potty training, learning how to feed himself and imaginative play. As he has gotten older, his number and writing skills have come on leaps and bounds due to the activities Lynne has done with them. She had gotten him ready for school and beyond in terms of his education and has also give him the confidence of teaching him how to read in preparation for school. That is only a small amount of things Lynne has done for us over the years and she keeps us well informed of his progress with daily live diaries that I can access anytime of his activities along with photographs so I can see what he has been doing. She also sends us progress reports and lets us know exactly how he is getting on with all of his skills offering friendly and great advice along the way! Lynne has even helped my son with his social skills he is no longer that shy little boy who first entered her home and is now actively looking for new things to explore!
Lynne also provides fantastic, healthy and nutritious meals which my son loves! She has been great at getting him eating much more fruit and veg than he did before and I cannot thank her enough for this!
The allotment is also another example of a fantastic feature she provides at her setting, my son can now confidently plant, look after and freely talk about the different fruits and vegetables he has grown during his time with her.It is a fantastic learning feature along with collecting eggs from the chickens - which are delicious!
The other children at Lynnes are as equally as nice as she is, and my son has formed very strong bonds with each of them, bonds that we will continue with their parents even after he has left.
In short, I cannot thank Lynne enough for what she has done for us over the last few years, the learning, the communication and the outstanding service that she provides! Nothing is too much trouble and she truly is a genuine, hard working, caring person who we have been so lucky to have in our lives.
Lynne has just received an OUTSTANDING from her latest ofsted report and rightly deserved! She also holds a Healthy Eating Childminder Award for the fantastic meals she provides!
We will miss her and everyone at her setting! I cannot thank her enough for all that she has done for us as a family by providing remarkable care! It has been a great experience and we cannot wait to see her again during the school holidays!

My little girl has been with Lynne since she was 18 months old I moved her from a different childminder due to appearing to be understimulated. Lynne is fantastic as my previous review said in 2016. My little girl will stay with Lynne until she starts school in September 2019. Well done Lynne on gaining an outstanding rating. You deserve it xx

My 8month old son is currently in Lynnes care 3 days a week and I can't thank her enough for making the transition of starting back work any easier. He is very happy to be with Lynne and appears to love going there with the other children. She is very professional with all her work - contracts, newsletters and baby connect. I wouldn't trust him now with anyone else. Fantastic child minder and would highly recommend her.

My little girl has been with Lynne now for 2 months and she settled in after 1 day! Lynne is fantastic, so accommodating and Caring. My little girl loves to go and often doesn't want to come home! I leave her in the morning very happy and Lynne communicates with me through an app during the day so I can see what my little girl is doing, eating etc. I have lots of confidence that Lynne safeguard's my little girl every time she is with her. She does lots of different types of activities which always vary something that I didn't find with a previous childminder and she provides healthy nutrious foods. I couldn't recommend her more! 5****
