Hello, my name is Wendy, and I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder with over 20 years of experience caring for children and supporting families.
I work alongside my daughter, Alice, who is also a registered childminder based in our home setting. Her young son attends as well, which helps create a warm, welcoming, family-style environment where children feel safe, comfortable, and part of everyday life.
I live with my husband, and we also have a few pets, three small, friendly dogs and a snake. All interactions with animals are closely supervised, and many children really enjoy learning about and being around them.
As a mother of four and a grandmother of seven, I understand the joys and challenges that come with raising children. This personal experience, alongside my professional background, allows me to provide care that is patient, nurturing, and tailored to each child’s individual needs.
Our setting offers a true “home from home” environment, filled with warmth, fun, and opportunities to learn. We provide a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities, along with resources to support all stages of development and suit children of all ages.
My Experience
I have over two decades of hands-on experience working with children of all ages, and I am confident in caring for multiple children at different stages of development. Having raised children with a large age gap, I have developed strong skills in adapting activities and routines to suit individual needs.
I also have personal and practical experience supporting children with additional needs. My grandson has autism and verbal dyspraxia, which has given me valuable insight and inspired me to further my knowledge in this area. As a result, I am confident in creating an inclusive, supportive environment where every child feels valued and understood.
As part of my childminding journey, I completed a six-week induction course through the local Early Years Team, approved by Ofsted. Since then, I have continued to build on my experience through ongoing training and workshops.
I regularly attend courses provided by the Early Years Team, Childcare.co.uk, and Childminding UK, covering areas such as:
- Child development
- Special educational needs
- Play and learning experiences
- Nutrition and hygiene
I strongly believe that continuous learning is essential to providing high-quality childcare, and I am committed to keeping my knowledge and skills up to date.
My Qualifications
Between myself and my co-childminder, we hold the following:
- Enhanced DBS Certificates
- Paediatric First Aid (for babies and young children)
- Early Years Level 3
- CACHE Level 3 in Childcare
- Public Liability Insurance
- ICO Certification
- Membership with Childcare.co.uk
We have also completed a wide range of additional training, including:
- Safeguarding and Child Protection
- Prevent Duty and Promote British Values
- Food Hygiene and Food Allergy Awareness
- Sexual Abuse Awareness
- Child Development
- Health & Safety and Behaviour Management
- Infection Prevention and COVID-19 Safety
All training is regularly updated, and certificates are available to view during visits.
My Availability
Full Days Childcare: Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 5:30pm
(We offer funding for children between the ages of 9 months to 4 years old.)
Unfortunately we are not covering nursery runs due to the restrictions of our daily activities and routines.

Before School: Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 9:00am
After School: Monday to Thursday 3:00pm - 5:30pm
My Fees
- Childminding from £7.99 per hour
Fees are charged per session, this is worked out on a 12-month pro rota.
All meals you wish your child to have throughout the day are to be provided by parents.

Our son joined Wendy's Little Ducklings at 9 months old and we have been thrilled with their care of him ever since. Warm and welcoming, Wendy and her team make the children feel comfortable and supported in their home environment. They curate interesting activities that engage and challenge the children to help them progress towards their individual developmental goals. The close personal attention they give each child means our son has been supported every step of the way, from weaning to potty training and writing skills. We are kept fully informed about our son's day and any issues are shared with us promptly. Our son has thrived in their care - making great friends and learning key skills while having a wonderful time. We feel very grateful to have found Wendy's Little Ducklings and strongly recommend them.

From the moment I dropped my son off at just six months old, I have felt completely at ease with Wendy and Alice. They have truly grown alongside my son and supported him in flourishing in all the best ways. Through their care, he has developed lovely manners, strong friendships, and deep bonds with Wendy’s family that feel very much like his own. In fact, just the other day he referred to them as his “second family,” which says everything.
Now at 3½ and ready for reception, my son has gained so much from his time with Wendy and Alice. He can write his name, has developed early maths skills, and has excellent social skills from playing with children of different ages, especially the little ones.
If you’re looking for childcare that is small, nurturing, full of love, and truly feels like a family setting, this is it. I will be forever grateful to Wendy and Alice for the role they played in helping me raise my son during the first three years of his life.

My son was in Wendy and Alice’s care from 10 months old until he was two and a half. As a first time mum, I was naturally very anxious about putting him into a childcare setting, but Wendy quickly put my mind at ease.
My son absolutely loved being with Wendy. They are genuinely lovely people, and I always felt that Wendy truly cared about my son as an individual. He absolutely thrived while he was in her care. He always came home happy, and when I dropped him off he would run straight in without looking back, excited to see her. I think that speaks volumes.
As a first time mum who probably overthought everything, nothing was ever too much trouble for Wendy. She was always kind, patient and reassuring, and we will always be incredibly grateful for the love and care she showed our son.
My son has now been at preschool for a year, and he still often asks about Wendy and when he can go back to see her. That alone says everything. Wendy is more than just a childminder. She has been a huge part of my son’s early childhood, and we will definitely be keeping in touch.
