Childminder in Felixstowe
My Summary
About Me
*Open for spaces, last few remaining*
I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder living in Felixstowe. I am highly dedicated to my career and have obtained a BA Honours Degree in Early Years, my highest qualification to date.
My greatest passion is in children’s speech and language development. I was honoured to be asked to become a Speech and Language Ambassador for Twinkl in 2025 and I plan to continue to work closely with them for better outcomes for children’s speech and language development well into the future.
I also work closely with all Felixstowe schools so I can better support children’s transitions from my setting to full time school. I also support our local high school at their career events, offering mock interviews and professional career advice to students within the school who are looking to go into the early years profession.
I have good relationships with other Childminder's in our area, we meet up several times weekly for toddler groups or play dates so children can extend friendships outside of our setting and build upon their social skills. I also have a business vehicle which I use to transport children each day with car seats and a multiple seat pushchair so we can get out and about further afield.
I am Ofsted rated GOOD.
About us:
The children in my care have access to a wide range of toys and resources indoors and outdoors. I encourage children to explore and decide their own learning which I build upon to extend their knowledge. All of the children in my setting confidently access toys and resources for themselves, and learn in a secure and safe environment where independence and individuality is encouraged.
Love and kindness is the order of the day here! All the children in my care are taught kindness and 'gentle hands' which enables them to respect one another and develop firm friendships with other children.
I work over three rooms in my house, which includes a purpose built playroom for my minded children.
- The playroom has lots of toys and resources at child height and with direct access to our own dedicated garden where we grow vegetables, fruits and flowers and play in mud, sand and water. We tend around 20 caterpillars into butterflies every year from April and learn about their lifecycle, their migration to South Africa and release them into the wild together.
-In the kitchen we bake biscuits and cakes.
-in the lounge we create a mini cinema for afternoon quiet time with healthy snacks. We watch a short animated story, such as, Superworm, Zog, or the Smeds and the Smoos, (our favourites at the moment) making sure screen time is still educational and adds to our learning experience. We also read a LOT, on average probably 3-4 books per day and we visit the local library regularly. I also supply every child in our setting with a 'Book Bag' and 'Reading Record Book' in order to read and record books borrowed from our setting at home.
I supply children with their own bedding at nap time if they need/want to sleep. I mimic routines from home as much as possible.
I supply waterproof coats, trousers or all-in-ones for all children to prevent their clothes getting wet and dirty. Most of the children here like to get messy so second hand clothing is advised even if your child prefers making pretty pictures to stomping in mud. Whatever your child likes to do we are fully inclusive and can cater for all learning needs.
Things I offer:
Included in my fees are all toddler groups, activities, snacks and outings, nappies, baby wipes, nappy cream and suncream. My setting welcomes children aged from birth upwards. I offer government funding from 9+ months until children go to school, with no hidden costs or extras. However, my funding offer is from 9am-3pm daily so you would pay at my normal hourly rate of £6.00 per hour outside of these times.
I also accept payment through the Tax Free Childcare Scheme which can be used as well as the funding.
Parents are to supply a healthy lunch. I am a NUT FREE setting.
My Experience
I work with regards to the very high standards of The Early Years Curriculum; The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and have qualifications and experience in observing and assessing children's individual needs for future development. Keeping up to date with how I deliver my curriculum is important to me and I strive to deliver a powerful and enriching learning experience for all children.
My experience:
I have worked in various settings and different roles within the childcare sector for 20+ years. I have been a Play Assistant, Senior Play Assistant a Family Support Practitioner, a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO), Lead Safeguarding Practitioner where I supported families through some very difficult and challenging circumstances, a Deputy Manager and Nursery Manager, but I like running my own business best with children that brighten up my day.

Our daughter has been coming to Fleur since November 2021. From the moment we met Fleur we knew our daughter would be in safe hands. She has taken Emilia on multiple days out, encouraged her speech and development, helped her grow in confidence and has always been there for advice when we've needed it (she has a fountain of knowledge on early years development which has been priceless). We love that we've been kept up to date on what they get up to so we never feel like we are missing out on experiences. Highly reccomend!
