About Me
I am passionate about being a nurturing, enthusiastic, passionate, positive influence for and on children and adolescents. My major passions are for literature, video games, Arsenal football club and Pokemon so I often have a lot of interest overlap with the children and young people I have supported in my career across two decades within the education, care, and health settings.
I am very much about trying to promote independence and autonomy wherever possible whilst also encouraging and providing a safe, nurturing support for the children and young people I work with.
I work particularly well with children who are neurodivergent and/or have additional needs but am also comfortable and skilled working with neurotypical children.
I am enthusiastic, reliable, trustworthy, and develop very strong healthy rapport with those whom I support.
My Experience
I have been an HCPC-registered occupational therapist with specialisms in sensory integration and autism since 2020 and continue to have a strong interest in and affinity for assisting children and adolescents in overcoming sensory challenges in evidence-informed and novel ways to allow them to better thrive across their various domains of self-care, leisure, and productivity.
I otherwise have twenty years of experience working across the education sector as a behaviour support assistant; learning support assistant; teaching assistant; trainee teacher; learning and behaviour specialist. I have worked in mainstream primary and secondary schools; special needs primary and secondary schools; post-16 special needs college/s; and community access support services. My Qualifications
I have a post-graduate diploma in occupational therapy; I am trained up to Module 4 in the Evaluation in Ayres' Sensory Integration (EASI); I have a Bachelor's degree in English literature in creative writing; three A-Levels; 10+GCSE's (A*-C); have been trained umpteen times in first aid, behavioural intervention strategies; PECS and Makaton; motivational interviewing and many other such courses.
My Availability
I am available Monday to Friday early until approximately 18.00 although I am flexible around discussions regarding hours and days worked, and babysitting etc.
My Fees
- Babysitting from £20.00 per hour
- Nannying from £25.00 per hour (gross)
I was earning £42000 per annum as a Band 6 occupational therapist and am open to discussions regarding rates but my minimum due to rent prices and living expenses would likely remain there or thereabouts.
