About Me
My name is Nicky Kent I live in Greenmeadow and have been minding for eighteen years. In this time I have minded 100+ children. I have three children of my own aged 24,21 & 19. Only my son still lives at home.
I am very flexible and offer part time & full time childcare.I also offer flexible wrap around care to cover parents shifts. I am also registered to take 2, 3 & 4 year old funding.
I think continuity of care is vital during a childs early years development.I offer a warm friendly environment for children in which they can develop at their own pace. All children are treated as individuals and children's likes and dislikes are always taken into consideration. All the children are encouraged to try new things whether it being food or learning experiences.
I believe in working in partnership with parents as a good working relationship is vital.I complete a daily diary for each child so you can get a full picture of your childs day. I also do observations on the children to access their learning and ensure they are meeting their learning goals. I also discuss your child's individual needs during our initial meetings. I follow the EYFS curriculum but all my planning is centred around the children’s likes and their aspirations and ultimate outcome.
I offer a home from home with lots of indoor and outdoor equipment. I do alot of activities with the children including craft, cooking, trips to the library, local parks, & softplay to name but a few.
My setting is organised so that the children can choose which toys they want to play with and they are able to play independently or as part of the group.
I let them choose which helps build their confidence!
I meet up with other minders during the week so the children have a very full social life which encourages the children to build a close circle of friends.
The children are also given the opportunity to rest as this is vital for their development.
I try to go on many courses to keep my knowledge up to date. I have recently done a SEND level 3 course.
I also have a very docile cocker spaniel. I mention this as some children have allergies or are frightened of dogs.
At my last OFSTED inspection I received a good grade in all areas. I am really pleased with this grade as the inspector highlighted many of my strengths.
My Experience
I am experienced in working with all age ranges and I cater for each childs stage of development. This is demonstrated in the way I have raised my own children.
I observe the children so that I comply with the Early years foundation stage, this is also vital in my planning.
I concentrate on the social skills and I encourage the children to learn through play.
With regards special needs I have minded autistic children so I have some experience in this field. I will always discuss their individual needs with their parents.
I have also childminded twins x2 sets.

I am available monday-friday 7.30-5.30.
I do not work on bank holidays.
