About Me

Hello, I am in need of a tutor for my 6 year old daughter with developmental delays. My daughter was born at 24 weeks and has a developmental delay. She is very eager to learn, verbal, of good understanding and well behaved, however she is struggling and can not read or write well and has trouble doing beyond simple maths. She is in year 2 however she is working at a reception level.

She can sound out simple 2-3 letter words such as “and” & “it”. She can not just look at a short word and read it, she had to sound it out. She can write some letters correctly, however some letters she writes are unreadable. She can manage to write short words with guidance but she needs assistance. She can count and recognise most numbers, however she is having difficulty adding and subtracting.

Unfortunately the school isn’t giving her the support she needs and she is on the waiting list for a diagnosis. The school will not provide her with additional help until she has a diagnosis. So I’m looking for a tutor to give her more of an advantage and help her where she is struggling. I would like to have 2-3 sessions per week, either at the tutors house or in my home. These are preferably after school sessions but I am open to weekend sessions. If you have experience with primary education and special needs education, please contact me. If you don’t have special needs experience but believe you can help her catch up, I will accept that.

I primarily want tutoring to help her read and write better - this is my main concern. I’d also like her to practice some mathematics but reading and writing comes first.

I also have a 7 year old son who is working beyond his expected level (year 3) but I may consider getting him tutoring in the future. Ideally with the same tutor but different sessions as him and my daughter are working at different levels.

I’m also interested in a French tutor for my two children. However my primary intention currently is looking for tuition for my 6 year old with developmental delays.

Lisa has looked after both of my children from a young age. Austin was 1 when he joined Aunty Lisa’s childminding and my daughter was 6 months old. My son has just finished today ready to start primary school, he is very much excited to see Lisa again during the holidays! My daughter Nahla still attends Lisa’s 4 days a week and loves it.

My daughter was born 4 months early and had health issues initially and delayed development. Lisa liased and worked with her occupational therapist and doctors to ensure she could take the best care of her she could and help her in reaching her milestones. My daughter is now 3 and has exceeded all expectations for development considering her prematurity and I attribute a great deal of this to Lisa’s work and attention to her and great communication with professionals.

They both love aunty Lisa’s and everyday they’re doing an activity they really enjoy. They love going to gymnastics, farmer parmers, the oceanarium, Alice in wonderland etc. Lisa ensures that their development is tracked and that the activities they do are based on what they need to learn or improve on. She taught Austin to spell and write his name and I honestly don’t think he would be as bright as he is if it wasn’t for Lisa and her efforts.

Lisa keeps a development scrapbook for each child filled with pictures of what the children get up to each day and a description along with what developments they are working on/have completed. It’s really lovely at the end of each term to read the book. She is a great communicator and is always sending photos of what they get up to day to day.

Thankyou so much sian for your kind words, it really means a lot. I have absolutely loved looking after Austin and helping him to grow!! He’s going to be missed by us all but we look forward to welcoming him back in the holidays!! It’s lovely that we still have Nahla for another year but it will be sad again with another goodbye!! X
