About Me

Hello!....I am a fully ofsted registered nanny and have been nannying for over 10 years. There are many benefits to being ofsted registered, ofsted registration means that we are inspected and have to follow certain procedures and rules for the protection and safeguarding of children but also as a registered provider you can get help with your childcare costs. Including if your family are in receipt of tax credits/UC then you can get help with your childcare fees the same as nurseries and childminders. Also eligible to accept employer childcare vouchers or tax free childcare and payments through your university if you are a student!
I was also, until recently an ofsted registered childminder, working Wednesday with another local registered childminder where we attend outings of Forest School and ad hoc childminding at her setting when she is engaged with other commitments & so I step in but I now work at the setting, as an assistant.

I have lots of experience working with families and children of all ages, from newborn to teenagers and feel I can meet everybody’s needs extremely well.
I have two children of my own who are growing up super fast….aged 19 and 14!!!
I feel this is an important aspect to obtaining a mutual understanding of families needs whilst also very much able to empathise with the hurdles and juggling act of raising children whilst trying to work and balance not just being a parent but remembering who you are as a person independently from being a parent.

Children love structure to their day, it gets them focused and provides a sense of security. But equally, children need plenty of choices and opportunities to make their own decisions as this develops their individuality and boosts their confidence. It is also a fantastic way to observe behaviour and growth.

I have also dipped in and out of working in schools on a temporary bases as both a supply teacher in secondary schools in Folkestone and Ashford and also as an SEN teaching assistant at Heath Farm School in Ashford.

Completed a degree with honours in June 2013 studying early childhood studies & psychology and then became ofsted registered.

I would consider myself to be fun, enthusiastic, positive and level headed who is patient and caring but also know where and when the line needs to be drawn. I like to call this the “firm but fair" approach when caring for children. Children need clear boundaries and plenty of opportunities to express themselves through play and language in order to learn and thrive.

My Experience

Most importantly is experience from being a parent myself. I feel that this is often the most relevant source of experience as it resonates with parents where they feel validated and reassured that there is an understanding of the issues concerned when it comes to finding the right childcare for your family and also helps build partnerships with parents.

My Qualifications

Honours degree in early childhood studies and psychology covering many in depth disciplines such as safeguarding children, child development and learning, children and education, meeting the needs of all children etc.
Access to higher education nursing pathway, EYFS, food hygiene, fire safety, cosh, Paediatric first aid training and more.
