My Summary
About Me
*Experienced nanny available from February 2026*
I have worked in childcare for over 16 years, in a variety of settings, gaining a wide range of experience. I have experience working with children of all ages, particularly under 5s. I am calm, practical and patient, as I am used to occupying young children with a variety of activities all day. I would like to work for a relaxed, easy going family who would be happy for me to take the children out for different activities during the day.
I am looking for a part-time employed weekday nanny position in St Albans/ Hemel Hempstead/ Harpenden and surrounding areas. Working 2 or 3 days a week, for about 22 hours total, between 8am and 6pm. I would be unable to work in a house with cats or dogs due to allergies. I am looking for that right family to work with in the future. I am happy to provide my CV, certificates and references.
Car owner with full clean UK driving licence / Ofsted registration available / DBS check / paediatric first aid / special needs experience / psychology degree
My Experience
As a nanny I’m passionate about getting children out and about . I take them to groups, play dates, museums, the zoo, playgrounds etc. This led me write online about local events and activities for children. I support all areas of children’s development from nap routines to potty training and then homework. I encourage independence and good behaviour and intervene when disagreements arise. I organise the children’s routines and engage them in different activities. Including arts and craft, messy play, games and imaginative play. Reading is important for children of all ages, so I always make regular trips to the library to select new books. I use baby sign language/Makaton to aid early communication. I’m used to organising a busy private school schedule for multiple children. I cook meals, shop, run errands and do light housework for families.
Previously I worked at a nursery for 8 years part-time, caring for and educating babies to pre-schoolers. The nursery also used to have an after-school club for primary school aged children. When the nursery cook was away, I often stepped in to make home-made organic meals for the children. Over the years I worked with hundreds of families and gained a lot of experience.
I worked for a year in a reception class as a learning support assistant to a 5-year-old with ADHD and attachment difficulties. I supported his behavioural needs, as well as assisting the rest of the class. My work in the school and nursery has made me very familiar with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), which covers children’s development from birth to 5 years. Every day at the school I led a phonics group, heard children read and assisted with all areas of the curriculum.
I am a psychology graduate and while at university I selected The Psychology of Childhood as one of my final year units, and looked at aspects of autism in my dissertation. I have worked as a mother’s help for a family where the eldest child has cerebral palsy, visual impairments and learning difficulties. In the past I worked as a play worker for the charity KIDS, at an adventure playground for disabled children, aged 0 to 19 years old, and their families. I also worked at their youth club, which provided 1:1 for disabled teenagers.
