Hi

My name is Anthony, I am a Mentor in a primary school. I have a vast array of experience working with children of all age groups within the home, outdoors and school settings aswell as extensive SEND experience. i have a full Enhanced DBS, paediatric first aid and am team teach trained.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY:


LSA Wellbeing, Behaviour and SEN


Full time- The school is very diverse and in a disadvantaged area, there are over 700 children from all different backgrounds, my role involves working throughout the school from reception to year 6. My daily tasks involve looking after children’s emotional, social, educational and physical wellbeing. I work closely with the senior leadership team, learning mentors, special educational needs co-ordinators, school counsellors and the designated teacher to ensure that children’s social and emotional state allows them to access the school curriculum, often creating wellbeing plans, behaviour plans and individual education plans. I also work with teachers to adapt the curriculum to suit individual needs and have my own timetable, which changes on a weekly basis. There are approximately 12 key children on my timetable with different needs such as attachment disorder, mental health issues, autistic spectrum disorder, emotional and behavioural difficulties, oppositional defiance disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, dyspraxia and looked after children and foster children with complex, challenging needs and behaviours. This also involves working with outside professional bodies such as speech and language therapists, occupational therapists, psychotherapists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers and foster carers.



SEN LSA Autistic Provision


Full time- Planning, observations and teaching children with high spectrum autism, oppositional defiance disorder, dyspraxia and dyslexia to reach further physical, emotional and educational goals in their development. Working alongside the teacher, I assist in the completion of IEP’s and CAF forms and write in home school books daily in order to keep parents or carers up to date with their child. I complete risk assessments and follow health and safety guidelines to ensure children are safe and protected. During my time in the provision I completed my level 3 Diploma children and young people’s workforce with additional modules for challenging behaviour and child development and am also trained in team teach (restraint), attention autism by Gina Davis and I am proficient in Makaton and the use of PECS and Visuals.



Reception Teaching Assistant


Full time- Assisting in the provision of a secure and comfortable environment that nurtures the physical, emotional and intellectual development of each child within the class, my main roles involved participating in development activities, encouraging each child to meet their potential by positive reinforcement and praise and then providing written records from observation of the children whilst Promoting a calm, caring and reassuring personal demeanour at all times. This was a temporary position for 2 weeks whilst the regular assistant was off sick. I also went to Glasberry with year 6 pupils on an adventure week and York with year 3 and 4 pupils for a week.


Scouting:


I have been involved in the Scouting Association since 2001 and I currently volunteer running 2 cub packs with 50 children ages eight to Ten and assist in the running of two scout troop ages ten to fourteen, , an explorer unit age fourteen to eighteen and a beaver colony ages five to eight I am also in charge of young leaders

My roles involve managing and leading the operation of the Sections, In particular, the planning and delivery of a balanced programme, taking into account needs, interests and abilities of the children. I must ensure the safe delivery of the programme in accordance with the requirements of the appropriate rules in policy, organisation and rules (POR) that governs meetings, events and adventurous activities and young people first initiative.

To help me fulfil my role I appoint Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, Occasional helpers and Young Leaders. I am responsible for all children, Assistant Cub Scout Leaders, occasional helpers and Young Leaders and any other adult involved in the delivery of my Programme.

I must ensure accurate records are kept of the cub scouts in the pack, including home contact and medical details as well as the residential experiences and activities they attend and the awards and badges that they earn. All this must be done in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.
