Laura
Nanny in London (also available for babysitting)
My Summary
About Me
I've been working as a nanny for 9 years, 8 of which in London.
The first 2 years in London I was a live-in nanny for a family with 3 young boys (ages: 3, 4 and 6 at starting date), who eventually relocated to Kent.
For the following 5 years I was the sole-charge, full-time, live-in nanny of a 1,5yo boy and his baby sister (born a year and a half later). The role changed to live-out in Sept 2019, until the children were both enrolled in full-time schooling.
In my last role, between 2020 and 2021, I looked after a 2yo boy and his baby sister, in a live-out, sole and shared capacity (mum on maternity leave).
Prior to moving to the UK I was charged with a baby boy in Italy once his mother had returned to work at the end of her maternity leave. A few years earlier I spent some time in Ireland as an au-pair to 1yo and 3yo brothers.
Since my last London role, I've been doing multiple things: taking time off to travel across Europe, visiting friends and family all over, volunteering in organic farms in the South of France (as part of the Wwoof scheme), studying French and finally walking solo two Caminos de Santiago in Spain and Portugal.
By late 2022, as I was about to return to the UK, I found out my mother was seriously ill and decided to stay as her full time carer. I'm happy to say she's doing much better so I can resume where I left off.
While caring for my mother I've been frequently babysitting ad hoc for a young family with 4 children (ages currently 7g, 5b, 3b and 1b), mostly late afternoons/evenings.
I'd like to stay in the UK pursuing a career as a nanny and will consider either a short or long-term, full time live-in nanny role in Central London, but am also open to relocate to Scotland.
I have experience working very long hours looking after multiple young children - including newborns - in a sole charge role, but have also assisted mothers in a shared capacity. I've often been left in charge of the children overnight whilst the parents were away for work or at weekends.
The time looking after my mother through her by-no-means-linear illness, managing the house, the doctors' appointments and various bouts of treatment and hospitalizations has made me more resilient and capable.
I am Italian, have lived abroad half my life and I speak fluent English, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese and conversational French. Mine is a large family and we are very very close. We meet often despite being spread out all over and I cherish the relationships formed with my many nieces and nephews.
Love reading, travelling, treks and the outdoors.
I am caring, nurturing, trustworthy, hard working, mature, tidy, fun and playful, organized and reliable. I love forming a bond with the children, taking them out to their various activities and generally spending lots of time outdoors with them.
I'd like to work 11-12 hours a day, Mon to Fri, in a sole-charge capacity as a live-in nanny. Preferably no travel with the family. I'm available from February and will gladly provide impeccable references.
My Experience
I have experience working very long hours looking after multiple young children - including newborns - in a sole charge role, managing most aspects of their daily routines, from meals and bottles prep, to planning and taking to their outings and playdates, dropping off and picking up from school, taking to doctors' appointments when needed, keeping up with school activities/sports/plays and school kits, assisting with homework, implementing bath and sleep routines, doing the kids' laundry and seeing the children through the weaning process and potty training. More generally my focus has been on the children's needs to be met and for their days to have a good balance of educational and fun activities in the free time, with friends when possible, often outdoors and in parks or Museums around London, but leaving space for rest and play at home, while maintaining their routines and ensuring the house was in order by the end of the day. I have also assisted mothers in a shared capacity on occasion, usually during maternity leave. I've often been left in charge of the children overnight whilst the parents were away for work or leisure days at-a-time.
