I am a Social Care Social Work Improvement Scotland registered Childminder living in the Leith Links area of Edinburgh with my Husband and 2 Daughters. Last inspection 2016 Graded 5 - very Good with no recommendations to be carried out.
I enjoy working in partnership with parents in nurturing and bringing out the best in their children through encouragement, enthusiasm and dedication. I have a very happy and outgoing personality and provide a nurturing, happy and safe environment for all children under my care. An environment geared to learning through fun and giving children the opportunity to express themselves freely. I am trustworthy, hardworking, reliable and patient which are all character traits that I believe are invaluable to being good child minder. I provide a Home from Home that is welcoming and safe. A place that children feel happy coming to and where Parents/Carers are happy and confident in the knowledge that their child's welfare and happiness is paramount to me. I provide daily diaries, with pictures giving details of what the children have done during the day. Pictures with paint, lentils, pasta shapes, salt dough decorations, seasonal pictures and home baking are often taken home by the children in my care.
My Husband was added onto my registration as an assistant in April 2013 and has brought his positive, happy, outgoing nature to the care setting and he is a welcome asset to my care service.
Both of our PVG disclosures and First Aid requirements are up to date.
I have been child minding for 10 years and have two Daughters aged fourteen and ten. I truly believe that there is no better experience than bringing up your own children to be happy and confident individuals. Parenting is a daily learning experience and we bring all we have learnt and what we are constantly learning to the children our my care. However it is also important to be continually looking at improving your service and keeping up to date with current practices and legislation. Please see my qualifications below.
I love arts and crafts and encouraging creativity in all forms is an important part of the day as is exercise, be it in the park or dance time in the house. Baking, reading and learning through fun also features in our day. We visit a wonderful Toddlers group on Tuesday at South Leith parish church and another wonderful toddler group on Wednesay mornings and sometimes Thursday mornings at St Marys Star of the Sea. I believe that interaction with the other children is imperative as it helps to form valuable social skills and provides lots of fun. We also visit New Street Park in Musselburgh and the Parks and Beach at Portobello on a regular basis when possible in the car.
I did volunteer work for a year under the auspices of the Church of Scotland when I was 19 years old in Nazareth, Israel and worked in the nursery there. Please feel free to get in touch if you would like to meet me and chat about the service I provide.

It has been a pleasure leaving our 9 month old daughter with Kirsten and George, they were brilliant in every aspect of caring and providing support, from small little detail to big things on day to day basis they were really involved in taking care of our little one. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for any childminder Edinburgh.
We’ve been coming to Kirsten & george now for a few good months. My daughter settled in well. She did cry everytime I left but that soon stopped. I’ve noticed such a big difference in her while being with Kirsten and george. Also she loves their children very much. I’m very happy to have met such great people. I can’t thank them enough. I’d highly recommend. So understanding and very friendly.
Our little one has been with Kirsten and George for about 6 weeks now and although he is still not completely settled when I drop him off he is obviously having a lovely time there, judging by the smiles and chatter when I pick him up. He always seems like he has been having a lot of fun. He is coming on really well with his mobility and is clearly benefiting from being around other children on a daily basis.
Communication has been good throughout. They really helped me to get used to leaving my little one in someone else's care and I now leave him with confidence knowing that he'll be really well looked after.
Nice homely environment and great that they get to mix with kids of different ages both at K &G's and at the 2 playgroups they attend each week too. K & G seem to go out of their way to make each day varied for the children in their care with lots of trips out to different local parks and day trips out along the coast too.
Happy to have found them and would recommend for anyone looking for daytime childcare.
Kirsten, George and their family are just great. We had never left our son with anyone apart from family before (20 months) but he took to Kirsten and George straight away. They provide such a nice home environment with lots of outdoor activities, crafts, baking. He comes home with new words every day and you can tell he really enjoys being there. He gets lots of personal one on one attention but also gets to socialise with other children. I feel like he has come on leaps and bounds since being with them.
Kristen and George are just fantastic. Before meeting them I was quite worried about leaving my 7 month baby boy with a stranger, but my mind was put at easy straight after meeting them both. They add a nice personal touch and love to caring for all the kids. I feel confident leaving my son with them and know he will get the best care possible. He doesn't actually seem like he wants come home after, i guess he just loves all the extra attention. Honestly I'm extremely happy I found kristen and George and so lucky that they are the people looking after my son while I'm at work.
