My name is Sally Andrews and I am based in the Elm Grove/Hanover/Queens Park area. I live with my husband, 13 year old daughter and 9 year old son. We also have 2 mini lop rabbits which are very popular with the children. We have a very happy family life and my children love welcoming other children into our home. I am fully registered with OFSTED, I hold a current paediatric first aid certificate, I have a Diploma in childcare and I remain very active in furthering my knowledge.
I feel it is very important for me to work in partnership with children's families, to ensure that the care your child receives is the best possible care, tailored to their needs, and to ensure continuity of care from your home to mine.
I offer a home from home environment with lots of opportunity to mix with other children on our daily outings. I meet with other childminders and their children regularly and the children also build relationships within these groups. We enjoy outside activities in our large secure garden, go to parks, visit the beach and go on nature walks. We regularly visit the library, childminder playgroups, singing/music groups, indoor play centres, museums, farms and other places of interest. Indoor activities include painting, drawing, story time, making/listening to music, singing, recycle modelling, puppet shows, dressing up/role play, cooking and free play led by the children. I have lots of toys/books/resources for the children covering all ages and we regularly visit the toy library to keep the toys and books new and exciting for the children.
I wish parents/carers to be as involved as much as possible and like to have a constant two way communication flow. For each child a daily report will be written of their activities and experiences along with lots of photo's so you can feel part of their day.
I am very passionate about the childcare I provide and strive to give the children a fun, fulfilled, happy and secure experience whilst they are with me.
My husband is also registered with OFSTED as my assistant should I require cover or help.
I live in a new housing development with an exciting new play area/park next to my garden. My 3 bedroom ground floor apartment is spacious and bright with floor to ceiling windows displaying beautiful views of the downs and city in the open plan living area. This makes way through patio doors to a large secure garden with lots of play equipment and areas of interest for the children to play and explore. Children are free to access most of my home, so therefore I have made sure that it is child friendly and safe. I have a quiet rest area with cots for all the little ones. There is easy parking for drop off's and pickup's and complete pushchair/wheelchair access.
My interests and hobbies
I love to sing and I am learning to play the guitar which I am thoroughly enjoying. Music is a big passion of mine which is incorporated into my setting with lots of music from around the world, playing of instruments and singing. I also practice regular yoga, read lots and love being outdoors surrounded by nature.
I have over 13 years experience looking after children from birth to 13 years old. I have very good references for children that have been in my care which can be viewed on request. I also have a grade A Diploma in childcare.

Sally has been our childminder for over 3 years, she looked after our first son until he was 3.5 and ready for pre-school, and now our second son, who is 20 months.
Overall I can honestly say we would be lost without her. Sally is kind, caring, considerate and most of all, fun!! She takes the children out almost every day to a wide range of places including parks, the library, groups, paradise park, the beach...in fact some days I wonder if weekends are boring with us!! I trust her completely and I know they are in safe hands, she gives them lots of cuddles and attention and I know they are well cared for. Our boys have enjoyed spending time with other children at the setting too, along with her own children (who are both lovely...and seemingly hilarious!) Plus she meets up with other childminders to allow the children to play together. I love reading the diary every day and looking at the photos she takes, to see what he has been up to and this makes me feel involved in his day. She also records progress against EYFS through observations and assessments.
Sally is also flexible, super organised and an excellent communicator. She has helped us so much over the years, she has been kind enough to accommodate my sometimes difficult working hours and various administrative bits and bobs that have popped up over the years. For example she accepts most childcare vouchers and signed up for funded hours.
Sally's flat is always very clean and tidy, but at the same time welcoming and complete with lots of fun toys and activities. There are cots provided for the little ones to sleep in and they even get their own rooms, so my son's have always slept well! The flat is secure and so is the garden. The bunnies are very cute and a big hit with the children who love to help take care of them.
People often comment on the polite and kind manner of my eldest son, I believe Sally has helped to nurture him into the lovely boy he is. I can already see this will be the case for my youngest too :)

Thank you so much Emily, such a lovely review :o) It has been and still is an absolute pleasure working with you guys and looking after your 2 amazing boys.
Sally has looked after our daughter Emily for nearly 4 years - since she was 6 months old. Through all the stages of her development, Sally has carefully considered and met all her needs. She knows the activities that Emily enjoys and includes them as often as possible. Sally loves to get out and about with the children, but also provides exciting craft activities and play opportunities at home. When we moved out of Brighton 2 years ago, we made the decision not to move Emily to a local childminder, because she was so settled with Sally - being at Sally's is like home from home for Emily, she has always been extremely happy there. It's going to be hard for us all when Emily has to leave and go to school!

Sally has looked after both of my children (still has my youngest.)
She is amazing, warm and kind l woman. Leaving your children with others is always hard- Sally has made this easy. I walk away knowing my children are cared for and that they will have a fantastic time in her care. I trust her completely- I couldn't think of a better person to look after my children whilst I have to work (sadly). we call her Mummy number 2!
Thanks Sally for making my children very happy and giving me the confidence to go to work knowing that they are in save, loving and very capable hands

Thank you Charlotte for such kind words. I have absolutely loved looking after Harry and now Margo and working together with you guys has been an absolute pleasure.
Sally looked after our daughter Nemi between the age of 11 months to 3 and half years old and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice. From the moment we met Sally we knew we’d feel confident in leaving Nemi in her care. Sally has such a lovely warm-hearted nature; it is clear she genuinely loves children and looks after their emotional, physical and educational needs brilliantly. Knowing our child would be safe and cared for in a nurturing and supportive environment was paramount for us.
Sally’s home is in a great location and is very welcoming, light and spacious; it’s completely child friendly and has all the equipment, toys, books, games etc. you’d hope for. The garden space is perfect and there is even a brilliant playground adjacent to her flat. Sally’s two children are lovely; they’re so welcoming to all the children, including them in their own play and family life with the utmost of ease. Nemi adored them both.
We always knew Nemi would have fun filled days, with regular trips out and visits to local parks, beaches, libraries etc. In all the time Nemi was at Sally’s she was always happy about being dropped off for the day.
Sally was very accommodating to our needs as parents and would provide us with the right level of input and communication. She would do her best to make sure we knew everything about Nemi’s days and would provide additional, regular diary updates for us to access easily.
We had such a great experience with Sally and would (and do) thoroughly recommend her to any parent who is making that difficult decision of who to leave in charge of their child. We’re very happy we did.

Thank you so much Murray, it was an absolute pleasure to look after Nemi and to work along side you guys.
Sally has been childminding my daughter Sonia (now 17months old) since March 2015. She looks after her for 2 days each week.
Sonia absolutely loves going to Sally’s, the pure joy on Sonia’s face when she realises that she is going to spend the day at Sally’s. She runs all the way from the car until she gets to Sally and other children she cares for.
I have been extremely happy with the care Sonia has received, and the great progress she has made whilst in Sally’s care. Sally’s home is always welcoming, clean and well organised and Sonia has great fun playing with all the toys available and with the other children in her care. Beyond all this though, it is Sally’s warm and friendly but no nonsense approach which sets her apart from other childminders.
She provides a wide, fun range of activities including plenty of outdoor exercise, drawing and decorating the drawings, reading stories, singing and dancing, as well as outings to the parks, trips to the farms and museums.
Sally is a great communicator and has no trouble in gaining Sonia’s confidence and therefore encouraging good behaviour and kindness and compassion to others, both skills which are important to us at home.
Although I provide Sonia’s food each day I know that she will provide healthy snacks such as fruit and rice cakes if she is exceptionally hungry or keen to eat what the older children are eating.
I am also aware that Sally ensures good personal hygiene in encouraging all the children to wash their hands. I’m sure that it is this practice together with the cleanliness of Sally’s home which has ensured that Sonia has remained healthy and bug free for the last 8 months.
Sally completes a diary detailing what Sonia has done each day. From this I have a complete picture of her whole day including what she has eaten, how long she has slept and all her activities. This helps me to feel involved with her care and that I can talk to Sonia about her day.
All in all, I am thoroughly happy with the level of care Sonia receives and I’m certain that being in such a positive and happy environment is helping her develop into a confident and self-assured little girl.
I would absolutely recommend Sally as a great and reliable childminder.
