Hello, My name is Mel I'm 34 years old and have been working in childcare ever since I left education in 2008. I have a son who was born August 2020 and a daughter born in 2022. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and going on camping adventures!
My Experience
I left college in September 2008 and worked in nurseries from November 2008 - March 2013 during which time I completed my Childcare NVQ level 2 and 3. I then began a position as an English teacher in a Kindergarten in China where I worked for 1 year. I then took on a temporary nannying position for a family with two children, aged 1yrs and 3 yrs. On leaving there I began another temporary position with 2 girls aged 2yrs and 4yrs. I then spent 16 months with a family with 3 children aged 3yrs 7yrs and 9yrs. I was then with a family for 5.5years and the children are were 9m, 2yrs and 5yrs when I began. I had my first child while working with them and he attended with me. During my second pregnancy I had an after-school role 3 days a week with 2 children aged 6yrs and 9yrs. After my second child I began a job working with a family with 2 children aged 7m and 2yrs at the time of starting. This role concluded in May 2025. I have also done a lot of babysitting in evenings and day times and have done overnight care.
My Qualifications
I studied Child Development at GCSE level and obtained a B grade in 2007 alongside my other GCSE's where I gained a further A grade, B Grade and 9 C grades.
I have my NVQ level 2 in Childcare which I obtained in January 2010.
I obtained my NVQ level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development in September 2011 at the Chiltern College.
I have a paedeatric 12 hour first aid certificate.
I also have a 120 hour TEFL certificate.
In 2022 I completed an NVQ level 2 in Understanding Autism.
My Availability
I am currently not working having finished a role in May and choosing to spend the summer with my own two children. I am looking for a role consisting of 2-3 days a week with flexibility for my children to attend with me around their school and preschool.

Melanie worked for our family as a full-time nanny from Sep 2023 to May 2025 caring for our daughter from the age of 6 months to 2 years old.
During the time Melanie was with us, I was undertaking a demanding full-time placement year as part of my studies. This required a level of trust and dependability in a caregiver that few can offer, and Melanie exceeded all expectations. The primary reason I was able to dedicate my full focus to my studies and placement was the absolute certainty that our daughter was receiving the same high level of care, attention, and nurturing that she would have received had I been home myself. This peace of mind was invaluable.
Melanie has a wonderfully calm, positive, and engaging demeanor. She possesses an innate understanding of early childhood development and consistently provided a stimulating and secure environment. She was proactive in planning age-appropriate activities and outings, fostering both cognitive and physical growth.
A unique and very beneficial aspect of Melanie’s care was the presence of her own daughter, who was close in age to ours. This provided a natural and constant opportunity for socialization, which was a joy to watch and greatly benefited my daughter's social development during these crucial early years. Melanie expertly managed the needs of both children, ensuring equal attention and a harmonious atmosphere.
Melanie is exceptionally reliable, punctual, and professional. She is an excellent communicator, always providing detailed updates on our daughter's day, including feeding, sleeping, and key milestones. She showed great respect for our home and our parenting style, seamlessly integrating into our family's routine.
In summary, Melanie is a truly outstanding caregiver who is dedicated, trustworthy, and incredibly competent. Any family would be fortunate to have her look after their children.
