Hi, I'm Sharon and I am an experienced Ofsted registered Childminder offering a happy and safe environment for childcare in Abbots Langley. I have been happily married for nearly 15 years and we have two children aged 10 and 14 years - both in full time education at our local junior and secondary schools.
We have a very child friendly and loving home with a wide range of toys and activities in a large play room. Our days are structured on an informal basis to ensure the children are having fun and enjoying their activities but also learning (without them knowing it!)
We have plenty of room for quiet time or naps when needed. Further to this, we have a lovely garden with lots of outside equipment including a playhouse and climbing frame. I ensure all equipment, toys and activities are age appropriate so they can be enjoyed by the children but remain safe.
We also make regular visits to our local parks, toddler groups, Baby Rhyme (usually held at the local library or similar activities at the nearby Children's centre), Soft play, Runaround Rascals and local activities nearby.
We live only five minutes walk from Tanners Wood JMI School and so drop offs/collections are easily accommodated, as would any attendances at Breakspeare Pre-school. We are also only a short walk from the village centre schools or nurseries and so please do enquire about other schools also.
All in all, I will do my best to ensure your child is safe and happy. My aim is to give the children a home from home experience with limited ratios (usually a maximum of 3:1 ratio for early years mindees). I appreciate how precious our little ones are and so getting the right childminder is an important decision.
Further to this, I also send daily texts/messages and/or photos to the parent to update them about their child's day when they are with me.
I have many years experience caring for children as a childminder which often includes looking after babies when the parent returns to work after maternity leave, toddlers and older children needing breakfast club or afterschool care. I also offer holiday care.
I have experience working as a Teaching Assistant at my local primary and junior school in the nursery/foundation stage - following the Early Years Foundation Stage and being the keyworker for several children.
I have always been graded GOOD at my Ofsted inspections and I will continue to provide the high level of care expected by Ofsted and parents.
This includes providing a daily diary/communication book to parents at the end of the day so parents know what their little ones have been up to, activities, what they have eaten, naptimes etc. as well as sending a daily text message to update parents. I will also complete a detailed Learning Journal for children in the Early Years age group (up to 5 years) and undertake the 2 year check (as well as your Health Visitor).
I also understand the importance of teaching children British Values and helping children become ready for school (learning their alphabet, self care, concentration, phonics, number songs etc.) so they are ready for the classroom.

I actively strive to constantly improve with the help of further education which is why I have additional qualifications in Childcare. Please feel free to contact me if you wish to discuss this further with me.
I also have an ILEX qualification in Law and worked as a Matrimonial/Family Legal Executive for a large law firm before I had my beautiful children!
I choose to care for a very small number of children so I can build a strong trusting relationship with each child. I believe the smaller the ratio of children to the carer, the better for each child! In turn I hope this will give confidence to you the parent, in the level of care I provide.
I am happy to mind your children during the majority of the school holidays including half terms, Easter and the Summer holidays by arrangement. I am also more than happy to look after the children outside of normal working hours – you tell me when you need me and I will try to be as flexible as possible.

Sharon has looked after my little boy Aiden since he was 10 months old, he’s now 3 1/2 and has just left Sharon to attend nursery to get him ready for Primary school. I’m so so impressed with Sharon’s level of care for Aiden over the last few years, she has been exceptional. He’s enjoyed lots of activities with her, trips to the park and soft play, lots of arts and crafts and outdoor play and has really enjoyed all of his time with her. Sharon regularly communicates throughout the day with messages and pictures of how Aidens day was going which was really nice to receive. She spent a lot of time and was very thorough with Aidens learning Journal, documenting all his learning stages and all the fun he had whilst spending days with her. She has also really helped me out around my working hours and has accommodated Aiden attending earlier which was a great help. I honestly cannot recommend her enough, shes a really lovely person and the absolute best at what she does and we will really miss her! I will definitely be recommending her to all of my friends with little ones.
Sharon has been minding my little boy since he just turned 1. We really couldn’t have asked for a better person to take care of our little boy while we’re at work. She has been amazing and leaves us with complete piece of mind when he’s in her care.
Our little boy loves going to Sharon’s. She always does such lovely activities with him from squirrel spotting and bug hunts in the woods, to arts and crafts. Our little boy has learned so much whilst being with Sharon she really has invested in aiding his development in such fun and imaginative ways. No wander he doesn’t want to leave when I pick him up!
We feel that Sharon does so much more than just look after our little boy, she really cares for him. That makes me as a mum very happy.
Sharon has been my daughter's childminder for 6 years. She is warm and friendly and always puts the child's needs first. I have complete peace of mind leaving my daughter in her care and on occasions when I have needed extra childcare at short notice, she has been there for us. I cannot recommend Sharon highly enough - my daughter always comes out laughing and smiling at the end of the day.
Sharon looked after my daughter for 4 months. We needed a childminder to pick our 10 year old daughter up 2 days a week very last minute. Sharon was recommended to me through school mums. As soon as I met Sharon I knew my daughter would be well look after in her care. The trust was instant. Sharon is a lovely bubbly lady who is a natural with children. My daughter has thoroughly enjoyed her time with you. I will recommend Sharon highly to anyone who is looking for a child minder.
I liked Sharon since the first moment I spoke with her, she is genuine.
She is was definitely caring with my son and all the kids.
She keeps the kids busy because they do so many activities, like going to the park or soft play or crafts during the day, and she has so many toys for the kids.
Sharon is really flexible and clean.
I’m happy to bring my son to Sharon and my son is happy to be around her. ✌🏽
