I am registered with two childcare agencies also.
My Experience
I am extremely dedicated to my profession; I view being a nanny as a career and not as a temporary occupation.
My first encounter of in-home childcare was when I was just 15 years old, taking sole care of a two year old little girl overnight for a family friend.
I attended college for two years from the age of 16 to study for a diploma in children’s care, learning, and development. The course was full-time and covered all aspects, including psychology in children. Throughout these two years, I additionally attended placements in primary schools and day Nurseries. Subsequently, I achieved triple distinction in children’s care, learning, and development at level 3.
Before I qualified, I was presented with a job role as an Early Years Practitioner in a private nursery, which I was enthusiastic to accept. I worked with children from 0-5 years, but I was predominantly based in the baby room with under 2 year olds. I worked at the Nursery for two years certified and during this time attended courses in breastfeeding and weaning, safeguarding, and food hygiene.
In 2015 after leaving my Early Years post I became a Sole charge Nanny for a wonderful professional couple who worked as GP's within the NHS, during my time with the family I additionally studied to be a Maternity Practitioner, I obtained a Level 4 award as a Maternity Practitioner in 2017. In 2018 whilst still in my Nanny position I was approved as a registered foster carer for my local council, I had to pass very in-depth background checks and numerous training courses over 6 months to register at a panel. I was then able to take care of children on an emergency & short-term basis, I was so privileged to have an 18-month-old, and a 4 day old infant come to stay on separate occasions. Nevertheless, I continued in my nanny position. I was in my nanny position for this family for approximately 7 years, caring for their 8 month old (at the start of position) and a few years later, their newborn baby also. As the family grew and requirements changed, I was more than happy to adapt. In late 2021, my position with this lovely family came to an end.
Choosing to take some time out due to Covid-19, in July 2022 I started a lovely new sole charge nanny position caring for a gorgeous 15 month old child, the position involved typical childcare duties, making and serving the child food, nappy changing and toilet training, organising fun trips out and establishing a good routine, which involed starting the bedtime routine. Unfortunately, after 18 months & with the families' circumstances changing, as they were moving area, my position with this fabulous family came to an end in January 2024, although I still enjoy babysitting for the family.
I quickly found my next position & started this role in February 2024, taking care of two school-aged children, I also walk the family dog and carry out housekeeping tasks. The children attended multiple after-school activities, which i am responsible for getting them too and from, i am responsible for overseeing homework, as well as meal prep & certain appointments for the children and their pets.
