A terrible experience I wouldn't hope to repeat.

Reviewed

I wouldn't recommend this childminder. Communication was terrible and there was an unwillingness and inability to amend my children's personal plans to suit their needs in line with the legislation.

My children had particular special needs at the time. I was completely up front with Lynne from our first meeting on what these were.

After a few months she handed in her notice that meant that I had two days left of childcare in place as she would be spending her notice period on a three week holiday in Cuba.

When I asked for evidence on why she had resigned, I was presented with trumped up incident reports. It really left me in a bad situation. It's since became clear that she needed my boys to leave to allow space for two babies she had coming in who would provide a higher and longer income.

I had never received any incident reports prior to this, so it was my view that everything was ok. There were no attempts to liaise with me to come to a plan to improve things or how adjustments could be made for my children. That's actually against the law and I know that the care inspectorate take a line on inclusiveness, or at least that's what's became clear from my discussions with them on this particular issue.

On top of this, because I refused to pay her for the time she would be on holiday in Cuba because she had not acted in line with the notice periods in the contract she approached me in the school playground with the children she was looking after in hand to aggressively demand payment. A very inappropriate line of credit control for someone who is running a business.

Another thing that she did that I didn't feel was appropriate was to leave my youngest child and her other pre-school age children in her car being looked after by either her husband (not a registered childminder) or a childminder that I did not know (and I never gave permission for him to be left with a third party.

I also noticed on many occasions when taking my son for the toilet before leaving that there was no hand soap provided in the bathroom- a complete disregard for the basics of hygiene.

My son was always saying that he was hungry at school and I have since found out that there was minimal encouragement given to ensure that the children ate something before school.

My children were deeply unhappy at this provider and it's an experience I would not hope for them or I to repeat.

Hi Vmummy

In response to all your comments (Sept 2015), I was going on advice from my care inspectorate officer and also adhering to my policies and procedures which u received a copy of prior to signing the contracts.

I thought this matter was resolved 18 months ago but as I stated before I wish you all the best for the future.
