About Me
After 10 years of having Au Pairs my wife and I are now looking for someone to take on a hybrid housekeeping and childminding role, keeping both the children and the household safe and organised! You would enjoy a private ensuite room, together with a car for reasonable personal use.
The Parents
We are both hard working, commuting into central London most days, leaving at 7am and returning around 7pm. We try to work from home on Friday and treasure as much time as we can with the children, doing drop-offs and collections ourselves as often as the work schedule permits. We enjoy travelling as a family and there may be opportunities to join us depending on the circumstances. We have been married for 10 years and strive to create a nurturing environment at home.
The Kiddos
Our 7 year old boy is at school which is a 15 minute drive away. He enjoys reading, playing football and spending time with his friends. Our 9 year old girl similarly enjoys reading and spending time with her friends, as well as representing the school in swimming and running. Both are hard working but appreciate help and guidance with their homework.
The Living Situation
We moved out of London 10 years ago and now live in a large converted barn 10 minutes from High Wycombe. The house is large enough for everyone to have their own bathroom, space and common areas. We have an Audi Q4 Etron which is used for the children which you can use generally, subject to a reasonableness policy which we can discuss. We sometimes eat and socialise with our current Au Pair, or she will go out/do her own thing - the relationship should develop organically. Key for us with the new role is to have a clear scope of responsibilities so everyone is aware of what is expected (and what is not expected!). We have a Spaniel, two cats and two gerbils, so a love of animals is a must!
My Requirements
A typical day will start at 7am as you help the children get ready for school and eat breakfast (although they are very self sufficient!). The school run is 17 miles long with two stops, taking about an hour as a round-trip. Once the kids have been dropped-off you would take the dog for a walk (ideally 30 mins twice a day, or at least one long walk and one around our field). You would spend a couple of hours cleaning (hoovering, tidying, doing the kids' laundry, organising/optimising but no bathrooms aside from your own). The rest of the day time is yours as you see fit - perhaps studying - with the earliest collection at 3.15pm. We can make use of the wrap-around care at school if this is helpful. Both kids will have been collected by 6pm at which point you would cook for the kids and direct them to the bath! We are home around 7pm, however, "Granny" lives in the annex and can takeover if we are delayed or you otherwise need to leave early. We would aim to give you Friday off every week, as well as the weekend (of course), with some pre-agreed exceptions. We expect a minimum of [34] hours per week, with flexibility to work additional hours by agreement.
School holidays would be planned together, with a mixture of fun activities led by you and the kids going to their grandparents' house and to holiday camps etc. In summary, we try and strike a balance!
We would expect you to be available to look after the children if they are sick off school.
We have loved all of our long-term Au Pairs but feel now that the housekeeping takes up more time and we would rather have a slightly more structured relationship that covers a wider range of roles. Remuneration and benefits would be commensurate with a live-in Nanny/ Housekeeper enjoying the benefits of their own space and car (subject to reasonable use). Please be in touch to discuss!
