About Me
Hello! I'm Clare and I run Little Bears Childcare in Potterspury, with my assistant.
Little Bears is a homely, curiosity approach and hygge inspired setting, which focuses on creating an atmosphere of warmth, wellbeing and happiness, where children are motivated to learn through play. We offer a nature-based curriculum, with child-led learning at our core. Our learning is delivered through carefully planned sensory, loose parts and nature play, based around the EYFS and 'Development Matters'.
I live with my 10-year-old daughter, husband, our 3 cats and golden retriever. We live in a smoke-free house with a spacious garden. We have a dedicated playroom and a separate space for naps. We have CCTV surrounding all sides of our house.
My Experience
Little Bears opened in 2020 in Wolverhampton and we have now relocated to Potterspury, Towcester.
We have so far welcomed more than 40 cubs aged between 8months and 4years :)
Before Little Bears, I worked in a large primary school nursery for 10 years. I have a lot of experience of working with SEND children, including being the one-to-one support for a child with Down's Syndrome and also for other children with Autism. I am extremely experienced with using the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum for planning, observing and assessing.
I have newborn experience and also medical care experience from looking after my own daughter, who was premature and needed medical assistance for 18months.
My Qualifications
I am Ofsted registered and we received a 'GOOD' grade in October 2024
I also have the following qualifications:
* Level 3 Home-based Childcare (HBCA)
* Level 4 Child Psychology
* Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
* Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene
* Paediatric First Aid
* Safeguarding Children
* Makaton - enhanced
* PECs Level 1
(All staff hold Childcare Qualifications, Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding certificates)
As a team, we regularly have training on all Safeguarding issues, in addition to regular Early Years and curriculum training.
My Availability
Little Bears is currently full but we have a waiting list for interested families. To find out more, message Clare.
Little Bears offers:
* Up to 30 hour funded sessions weekly for eligible cubs aged between 9months and 3years
* a variety of non-funded sessions (from £40)
*term-time and full-year contracts
(New starters must be aged under 30months)

Nb. We are an on-site childcare setting, like a nursery, and so we do NOT offer school drop offs, after school care, occasional babysitting, holiday only care, short-term contracts, evenings or weekends.
My Fees
- Childminding from £6.00 per hour
Full day - £60 (7.30 to 5)
Other sessions available too.
Healthy, home-made lunch, snacks, drinks and all consumables provided. Parents need to provide formula and nappies if required.

I am so grateful that my son has been able to stay at Little Bears all the way from 15 months old to being ready to start reception. I couldn't have asked for a better setting, nor better carers for him than Clare and Coco. They created a truly wonderful setting where each cub is nurtured as an individual. My son's development has been astronomical since he has been at Little Bears and I am confident that he is well-prepared for his new adventure at school because of the experiences he has had. Over the years, I have been so lucky to have the benefit of Clare's expertise in early childhood development and her wisdom. Both myself and my son will miss Little Bears very much and wish both Clare and Coco every success in their future endeavours.

This was my first job since leaving college. I have worked with Clare for three years now and it’s been the best three years! It’s been a brilliant experience and I’m very sad to be leaving. I will miss our zoo and wood trips and of course all the children and parents!
The setting is a home from home environment this gives children the confidence as if they’re still in their own home. This kind of setting helps children develop naturally as children are always more confident in their own homes. Every child that has or does attend this setting are always happy when arriving and during being here. Every child that attends has the best experience and parents are always happy and OFSTED have no complaints. ( I’ve been here for two Ofsted inspections) the setting is always clean and cleaned about three times a day, morning, after lunch and evenings. This helps ensure that the setting is clean and hygienic for all children to attend as we have teething babies. Food is cooked and prepared for all children and we meet the needs of all children that attend.
If I were to be given the opportunity to work with Clare again I 100% would with no hesitation! I will miss Little Bears very much. 🩷

My 2 boys have been with Clare at lil bears for the past 2 years. After being let down at the last minute by another childminder Clare was very accommodating and helped us secure suitable hours. Lil bears is a home from home setting that suited my eldest perfectly, he was a very nervous starter but lil bears has brought him out of his shell and he now has many friends.
I know both boys will miss lil bears very much and the wonderful memories they have made whilst being there.
I feel they have had the best start to their early learning and I'm very sad now leaving.
