JANUARY 2018 - JANUARY 2019
EARLY YEARS EDUCATOR-( BABIES/UNDER 2'S - 2-3yr olds ) NATURALLY LEARNING NURSERY
Worked within a naturally learning setting started by working in the under 2'S caring for the youngest children that attend the setting before moving across with the children to the living room children aged 18 months -2years. Before making the decision to move down to the explorers room ( toddlers ) helping to care for 2-3 year olds, helping children that were transitioning from babies to toddlers. My role within the explorer room was working as a toddler key person and to work very closely with the children with additional needs, using my knowledge gained from a previous position to support them with their learning.
Providing home from home care to the children, Gained strong bonds with both parents and children, during drop of and pick ups, the key person gave feed back to their children's parents/ guardians. we also communicated through app called Famly, used during every session the children attended, which enabled the parents to be informed of their children's, meal/snacks - how well they had ate, nappy changes/toilet training , nap times. communicating through personally messaging the parents- letting them know about their children's day, and activities enjoyed and explored, but also the app was used to help keep record of their children's learning journey and development , which was available for the parents view at all times.
Supervising the children at all times, providing activities to further their learning and knowledge in a variety of set ups linked to the focused planning ideas. As a setting based on using mainly natural resources we used a range of heuristic and open ended resources to stimulate the children's learning and imagination through there play. lots of sensory based play to engage the children to use there fine and large motor skills to explore and investigate. As a setting with many allergies it was very important that my knowledge and supervision was extremely important at all time especially during meal times and planning sensory activities.
