About Me

Welcome to Park View Childminding
Hello, we are Sara and Kev the owner and manager. We are a previously twice Ofsted OUTSTANDING childminder setting and were most recently graded as achieving a STRONG STANDARD in all areas in December 2025 under the new inspection framework - this is a very high accolade and a reflection of the fantastic high-quality and nurturing, care and education, that we consistently provide.

Our OFSTED REGISTERED setting - Park View Childminding, is an early years–focused setting ,which is led by experienced and qualified early years professionals. We are so lucky to be based in the Thornes area of Wakefield, straight opposite the beautiful Thornes Park.
We have a safe and secure setting with a double gated outdoor play area. This includes a delightful custom build play house and under-cover mud kitchen, as part of our continuous provision.
We also have a private driveway off the main road for safe drop off and collection.

We specialise exclusively in caring for children aged 9 months to 3 years, offering a unique and nurturing pre-school which is expert-led to start each child on their early exciting educational journey.

At Park View, we are a highly experienced and caring husband and wife team, we have been married for 34 years and we have a combined early years profesional expertise of over 60 years both as professionals and as parents.

We provide a calm, happy and engaging home-from-home environment, where children feel safe, nurtured, valued and inspired. We work hard to ensure the children feel settled and that they develop confidence and a strong sense of belonging whilst they are here.

We are passionate about giving every child the very best start in life and we often custom make many of our toys and resources; including our fantastic play house and mud kitchen, to name a few.
We just love to see the children in our care, having the most inspiring play opportunities to support their progress.

We celebrate every baby and child as unique individuals. We champion their interests and their strengths and offer support when it's needed too. Always working in partnership with parents.
Our ethos and practice is rooted in the EYFS and this ensures that every child in our care has the best opportunities to make excellent progress in their learning journey.

Learning here is carefully and thoughtfully planned, through a wide range of activities, outings and experiences which are designed to enrich play and develop each childs understanding of the world around them.

Our Environment
Our setting offers a beautifully designed, well-resourced home and cabin that supports every aspect of early development, with seamless free-flow access to our highly secure and engaging outdoor space.
Our outdoor area is a rich, stimulating environment, thoughtfully developed to inspire exploration, creativity and development across all areas of learning.

Local toddler group and sometimes soft play.

We also enjoy visits further afield using our National Trust membership as well as exploring nature walks and other forests and national parks. We visit beaches too and so much more. We just love using these outings to bring enriching opportunities to the children, enabling them to explore all areas of learning in real and meaningful ways, in the wider world.

Partnership with Parents
We work closely with parents and carers to build strong, trusting and lasting relationships. Each child’s development is carefully observed and tracked in line with the EYFS, and we share regular updates and reviews to celebrate progress and next steps together.

Our Expertise
We are a team of highly qualified early years professionals, bringing together extensive experience across nursery, school, and leadership roles. Including being fully qualified Nursery Nurses and first aiders. I was also previously an inspector of childminders for a childminding agency.

We are both also qualified in first aid.
The majority of my career was spent working initially as a nursery nurse and then as a nursery and reception teacher and foundation stage co-ordinator in a primary school. I was also an early years consultant and an early years moderator for Wakefield Local Authority and he was also an ofsted and agency inspector for early years settings.

Being skilled as an early years teacher in our setting, ensures that children can make a flying start with their phonics and numeracy learning. School readiness is so much more than this and this is why we support the whole child in being ready for school.

We complete regular monthly CPD training to ensure that we are equipped with further knowledge and training to support our very important role as childcare providers.
Your child’s safety, wellbeing and education are always our highest priorities.

Nutrition & Care
We provide nutritious, home-cooked meals, supporting healthy eating habits from the very start in line with the EYFS requirements. We are also experienced in supporting breastfeeding families and individual dietary needs.
Safer sleep requirements are also strictly followed, in line with the EYFS and the lullaby trust.
