Energetic, practical and loving childminder - thor

Our son was in the care of Sarah for 2 years from the age of 12 months. From the start she was very caring and he took to her very well. It was comforting to know that he was getting plenty of attention and cuddles after I had gone back to work.

Sarah is warm-hearted, energetic, patient and caring, and she became like a second mum to our son. It was very reassuring as a parent to know that our young son was receiving excellent care and attention in a friendly home environment. Even now that he has left he is still very attached to her and loves to go back to visit. He also loved having Sarah's own older children around and enjoyed playing with them. All the children enjoyed mealtimes together, which was always healthy home-cooked food.

Sarah has an excellent approach to encouraging the children's learning and activities, for example learning words and colours, and she encourages courtesy, helpfulness and good behaviour, for example at meal times and tidying up. She also encourages independence, with little things such as teaching our son a special trick to put on his coat himself (which he then delighted in showing everybody!).

And as parents she was full of useful advice for us too, as she is a parent to three children herself.

Overall we were extremely happy with the care that she gave, and would definitely recommend her as an excellent childminder.

Whole-heartedly recommend this wonderful childmind

Extremely experienced and capable, I have no hesitation in recommending Sarah whole-heartedly as a childminder.

Sarah's patience, kindness, creativity and knowledge ensured that my son has always thrived with Sarah, been extremely happy to be with her, and made good progress with his skills including social skills, fine motor development, reading and numeracy.

Sarah makes good use of the space in her setting with a broad variety of different toys, activities and games on offer including small world, playdough, sensory and creative. She is also wonderful at taking the children out to the park, to soft play, to playgroups and for activities to foster their gross motor skills development and creative and messy play. Other outings with Sarah included the local City farm, strawberry picking, Discovery centre, Gillespie ecology centre, Science museum and swimming.

Sarah is very practical, sensible and capable and I have every confidence of her ability to handle emergencies. She also goes the extra mile with the meals she provides, providing home-cooked tasty and nutritious meals which she cooks from scratch and also with a good variety of menus.

Finally, as a working mother, I value Sarah's flexibility in providing early and late childcare when needed for meetings.

Loving, fun, organised and completely awesome

We have been so pleased with Sarah as our childminder. Our daughter (who started with Sarah at 17 months) - absolutely took to Sarah, her family and home environment immediately, settling-in incredibly fast. Sarah is very loving but also firm, fun and energetic. The children in her care all seem to respond very positively to her fantastic mix of home activities and outings/outdoor activities. Sarah recognises the importance of routine but as she is so organised, also manages to fit in a good variety of excursions - getting out and about everyday. Sarah's home is always spotless and she provides good home-cooked meals and snacks. She is a great communicator - so I get lots of photos, videos and updates throughout the day, plus a comprehensive verbal breakdown of the day upon collection. Sarah takes genuine joy in the children she looks after and they are really welcomed into her family. I feel very confident in Sarah's knowledge and experience of parenting/childminding - plus she is very flexible and always has time to discuss things, share tips etc. Finally - and perhaps a small point - but I like the fact that our daughter gets to nap in a cot when they are at home.
