My Summary

My Experience

Throughout my teaching career, I have gained experience planning and delivering learning across the Scottish Curriculum, adapting lessons and learning experiences to meet children’s individual abilities, strengths and support needs. I regularly assess children’s progress and put targeted interventions in place to help remove barriers to learning.

I am passionate about creating exciting, memorable learning experiences and use my natural creativity to find different ways to teach concepts that children may otherwise find difficult or “dull”. I believe that learning doesn’t have to look the same for every child, and that children are often capable of much more when they are given the right environment and approach.

Before qualifying as a teacher, I worked as a support assistant in a primary school. This gave me a valuable insight into the challenges some children can experience within mainstream education when the right support isn’t in place. Some of the most meaningful relationships I have built in my career began during this role, when children trusted me enough to let me into their worlds. This experience continues to shape the way I approach learning today.

I also have two years’ experience working as an Early Years Practitioner in a nursery, where I saw first-hand the importance of learning through play and the impact this can have on children’s social, emotional and educational development. I also supported children who spoke English as an additional language, helping them settle into nursery and navigate transitions between different cultures and experiences.

Throughout my time working in schools, I have become increasingly aware of the rising number of children experiencing Emotionally Based School Avoidance (EBSA) and the different reasons why a child may find traditional school environments difficult. This is one of the reasons Every Way Learning offers flexible tutoring during the school day. For some children, learning outside of the traditional school environment can provide the breathing space they need to reconnect with education without the pressures that may have made school feel overwhelming.

My aim is to create a learning environment where children can learn at their pace, in their space. Whether a child needs additional academic support, a more creative approach, help rebuilding their confidence, or simply an environment where they feel comfortable enough to engage, sessions are shaped around the individual child rather than expecting the child to fit a particular way of learning.

My Availability

You will notice I have availability for tutoring sessions throughout the school day as well as evenings, I am aware that many learners are struggling to attend school during these hours!

My Fees

• Tutoring from £25.00 per hour
